Dosing pump as good as DOS that works independently?

I like Neptune’s DOS but I’m not in love with that fact that it can’t work independently. Is there another pump considered as good as Neptune’s DOS that doesn’t require buying an additional piece of hardware to run it?

On my 3rd one in under a year and it’s only pumping rodi water from ato to a kalk stirrer. Multiple people I know have had the same issues. Error messages saying out of sync, then out of nowhere it just turns on wide open which can be a serious problem with a kalk stirrer.

I think one of the big benefits of DOS is having communication with apex, I personally haven't used a DOS system myself yet. I have a bunch of Kamoer X1's and they are super easy to setup and very reliable. I recently started using a GHL doser 2.1 SA and I think its a really good multi head doser although it takes some more time to setup. Has a lot more options than the Kamoer and similar options to the DOS i.e. reverse modes, AWC, etc.

I’ve got a pair of DOS and 3 Versas running. Big fan of the Versas personally. Super quiet and mobius connectivity has gotten much better with newer firmware.
Hoping Neptune releases the MXM soon so it can be controlled under Apex

I have a kamoer x1 pro T, and it doses as it should all the time, 1000ml a day of calcium acetate. I calibrate it every 6 months when I replace the tubing/head.

The kamoer only comes as one head, correct? No version has between 2-4 heads? How long have you had your kamoer?

This may be a stupid question, but I’ve never owned a dosing pump before. By calibrating, do you mean that you’re verifying that the pump is pushing out the correct amount?

yes.

You prime the lines and make sure they are full, then tell the pump to dose 20ml, measure and record the result of what actually came out into the app, the pump then uses that reading to dose the correct amount. Sounds a little complicated, but super simple to do.

No matter what product you pick, there will be people with issues. For every thread about a versa/dos/kamoer that has an issue there's probably 100 people that have zero issues but they don't say anything about it.

I like Red Sea dosers. They have their own proprietary app,are resonably quiet and so far no issues with them. You need 2.4 ghz WiFi though.

I’ve ran 2 of mine on continuous water change of 2.6GPD since they came out. I believe in 2020? Kalk for past several months at 1.2GPD

I second RedSea for ease of use. Accurate dosing and nice app to work with. Small compact size also and reasonably priced
