Dosing pump as good as DOS that works independently?

No matter what product you pick, there will be people with issues. For every thread about a versa/dos/kamoer that has an issue there's probably 100 people that have zero issues but they don't say anything about it.
Makes sense and I truly appreciate you giving this perspective!

Well 3 out of 3 were junk for me….more than enough to tell me they don’t have the pump perfected for what they advertise it as! Not to mention people I know personally that have had the same or other issues with them. At this point may as well buy cheapo jebao 4 head dosers and just use one head at a time.

Red sea dose is the best, easily monitored and since it's connected to wifi you can dose from anywhere. Some people have had problems trying to connect but it's usually user error when trying to connect to wifi.

I use Intllab and Hydros dosing pumps with my Hydros controllers. They run when powered but the Hydros controller can run a calibration on the pump which runs for a minute and you tell the Hydros how much was pumped in ml in that minute. Then it can calculate how long to run to get the dose amount you enter. The Hydros has a flow rate at around 43ml and is fixed. The Intlab you can adjust with a pot on the front of the dosing pump. With the small tubing installed I have them down in the 12-13ml flow rate and with the large tubing installed I have had them as high as 80ml. The tubing does not last near as long as it does on the Hydros which is a Kamoer dosing pump. They will have a controller released this year with 4 precision stepper motor type dosing pumps built into the controller. I believe those are Kamoer pumps also.

kamoer has a 4 head version. Been running (4) individual Kamoer X1's for a year
for regular two part dosing? or for auto water changes?

I ran a regular kamoer dosing pump for kalk, and the volume was too much for it, starting making noise after a month. I can only imagine how loud it would get trying to do water changes

I have 2 versas doing 1g daily awc. 18 months. One in basement pumping nsw, one next to tank, pumping out.
Tubing needs to be replaced every 6 months.
Happy with their performance.
I bought dos for this job originally, but too noisy.

Nice that you have both. Would you say they’re equal in value from what they offer? Outside of the noise, would you consider one better than the other? Can the versa’s be daisy chained to each other? For example, if I purchased 2, could they be physically connected to each other like the 4 head unit?

The dos is idle, not being used. Not sure what it offers that the versas dont.
The 2 versas are separate, and in my case that is desirable; they are in 2 locations. I dont know what the 4 head offers, except a common power supply.

No, not for Kalk, I know somebody who use a kamoer Pro T stepper for Kalk and apparently likes it. I use the X1's to deliver my sodium carbonate solution and calcium chloride which is super thin, I also use one to small dose AFR and the other two dose aminos. The Kamoer X1's are pretty light duty, non viscous liquids. You'd probably need the Kamoer Pro T for kalk, or the FX which are much more expensive pumps. The X1's are not for AWC they don't run in reverse as far as I'm aware. The GHL Doser 2.1 however will do AWC no problem

I used to have the dos and switched to the versa for Kalk and Daily WC. No issue so far and been running for about 3 months now. Good deal quieter and especially at higher flow rates. The Dos I could hear from my bedroom at anything over 20 ml/min.

You won't be able to daisy chain the pumps together. Individual powered or 4 bar strip.

How did you get the AWC to work for the versa? I’m pulling my hair trying to figure it out but cant

Cheated. The versas are set for constant speed , 17 ml/minute dosing.
They are powered thru the apex outlets.
The 'add fresh saltwater' versa outlet is on an osc command that turns it on for 20 minutes every 2 hours.
The 'remove tank water' outlet just comes on when the fresh one is on.

I guess I cheated too. I just put one versa on constant 16ml a minute for a max of 3785ml a day and that one sucks water out while another versa with the same configuration fills back in lol

What are you trying to do with the dosing pump? For standard element dosing a ghl SA 2.2 would do the trick or for larger volumes like AWCs a maxi doser 2.2 would work great. I run both and they are were well built.

I like Red Sea dosers. They have their own proprietary app,are resonably quiet and so far no issues with them. You need 2.4 ghz WiFi though.
Not to hijack…when you say you need 2.4 does that mean 5 won’t work and you need to step down or you need AT LEAST 2.4?
I like the Red Sea stuff, might invest in but specifically asking because I’m having trouble connecting with another product(mitras 7206)that is 2.4 as well. I’m on 5, wondering if that’s the problem and if I’d need to work it out to use it and the Red Sea stuff.

I have an Apex and use red sea. Ease if use and very precise. But if i was gonna use it to run all the time I would get a dos for like AWC or kalk dosing.
theres no communication between the two though right?

I'm not sure why, but there are plenty of products that need 2.4ghz and not 5g in order to work properly. Hydros, RedSea, and I believe Kamoer all use 2.4g.

I still have a home router that gives both 2.4 and 5g networks, but some of the newer mesh type networks don't give you a choice.
