Hi

I need a dosing pump for the Triton method.

I know little to nothing about dsing pumps, I have read that kamoer are great pumps.

I'm considering a kamoer f4 pro or 4 kamoer x1 single.

What do you think about those pumps? And what else do you recommend?

I have a single head X1 and it has been working great for the month of use so far. You cannot dose less than 1ml but for my needs that is fine. I really love the Bluetooth and app interface which makes the setup and scheduling easy.

I've heard if power is lost the X1 you will need to.connect to the X1 via Bluetooth to restore its dosing plan. Not an issues unless it happens while away for a couple days.

Do you need to push a physical button on the pump, to connect it?

Or does it connect automatically if the phone or tablet is near?

I recommend the ghl. Neptune dos is nice if you already have an apex system. The new ecotech versa is looking promising as well. I’ve heard good things about the x1

While the Versa looks nice it is a single head dosing pump. An you will need minimum 3 heads. I would recommend the GHL doser as you can get three head unit for less than three heads of an ecotech. You also can expand. You can add a head to do your ATO work. An dose the other additives needed.

I wouldn’t recommend bubble magus. I switched to Triton and the bubble magus I have doesn’t deliver the accuracy you will need. I’m back to dosing by hand till I get a better one.

I’m going GHL as I have a p4 and I think everything will work our great!

Are you looking for a “smart” pump or just something to get the job done? I have the jeabo DP-4 and it works great for what it is and it’s not overly expensive!

I've used them all. Ghl was the best hands down and are the easiest to sell. You will eventually go calcium reactor anyway and yes I've even ran the Triton method. ;)

I was looking into calcium reactors... just can’t really find one for me / decide if I want in or out if sump. Also don’t really want to spend a billion dollars lol I was interested then I saw some $400 regulator on brs and was like ouch

Trust me you will know when you are ready for a calrx. When your tank starts burning thru alk at a rate that it no longer becomes economical to keep dosing. Until then its easiest to just stick with dosing.

I prefer accuracy and reliability over features, I travel a lot, and set an forget equipment is a must for me.

I have to say that the Ecotech Versa is your best bet for accuracy and reliability. Soon... Very soon, Ecotech will be releasing their version of precision dosing. I've been lucky enough to have one to test and it will dose as little as 0.5μL (That's 1 millionth of a liter) on up. Not sure who would use it for that precise dosing, but if you need to, the versa will do it.

The great thing about the versa is that it is versatile in that it will precision dose to what ever the users needs are and if you end up going the way of a calcium reactor it will continually dose up to 200ml/min.

That's what makes this dosing pump different than all the rest. Instead of using software to control on time of an electric motor like the x1, bubble magus, brs, (that will eventually lose accuracy) the Versa uses a stepper motor which is a more precise way of handling the task.

They will offer the pump in single units as well as a "quad pack" that will meet any of your dosing needs, auto water changes, auto top off, 2 part dosing, trace element dosing... basically anything that you can think of the versa will do it.

And the beauty of it is the price point will be lower than any pump that offers the same capabilities. Well worth the wait, if you ask me.

GHL uses stepper motors too. would recommend that small a stepper motor to run a CalRx thou. Long term it will cause issues.

The difference being that the GHL maxi isn't necessarily designed for constant use, and will prematurely decrease life expectancy as well as pump roller wear.

Can you clarify this statement?

Not sure if you meant to say "wouldn't" and not sure what small stepper you're referring to.

I was talking about the Ecotech pump. Not taking about the MAXI pump either it was not design for dosing small amount of liquid. I have 6 GHL dosers used to dose trace elements and ATO functions. I am an old maintenance man that worked in the food industry for 35 years. Dosing pumps and stepper motors where daily chores for me

That's awesome. I would assume that you would know quality when you see it. You need to get your hands on a Versa. from one peristaltic pump aficionado to another, you're going to be amazed with how it performs tasks.
