I haven't found a forum that has a time line after using dr tims so I thought I would start one. I am almost 72 hours in, and my nitrites are still showing 0, but my ammonia has dropped significantly from 3ppm to .5 ppm within 48 hours. I have spoke with a fellow reefer that advised his did the exact same thing with Dr tims. Will keep this updated.

That's unfortunate. I haven't spoken with him or seen him do this. It was just referred by a friend so I figured why not give it a shot.

Well my new tank cycled in 3 weeks and I never seen ammonia or nitrites after that. So yes I think it worked just fine.

Great news. Hoping mine continues to go good. My ammonia is going down alot every day and my trites are barely noticeable. I keep dosing ammonia to keep the bacteria fed

Also watch your nitrates if they get real high it will stall the progress. Have to do water changes at that point. I didn't realize that and i wasted time.

I will test for nitrates soon. I was waiting to see a rise and drop in nitrites before I tested for nitrates, but if the nitrites disappear too quickly I won't know when to test for nitrates. How long should I wait to test for nitrites?

I think it says add ammonia and when it drops - 0 test trites and trates. Idk it's been a while lol.

Your nitrates will just keep rising though until they can't get any higher than your tank will stop processing ammonia all together. You will have to do water changes to lower the nitrates.

Haha ok. my ammonia is pretty low right now I was gonna dose with ammonia tomorrow and test it in exactly 24 hours to see how good the bacteria is colonizing. I just turned my skimmer on and put my filter sock back in. I waited 3 days instead of the recommended 2 days to put those back in

Day 5. Excuse the ammonia. I was dosing with the Dr tims ammonia bottle and the cap came off and dumped 3/4 of the bottle in. Any suggestions on this? I have already done 30 gallons of water changes. Should I just let it go down naturally or keep doing water changes? Good news is the nitrites are still rising so the cycle is still working, just don't know how it will affect everything with the high ammonia<br/>
