Drilling tank for Overflow

Hey can you comment on the quality of the Eshopp one... Silent? dimensions in the tank? (how deep is the skim box in the tank). can yuo run a herbie off of it?

The quality seems great. Had a nice template, included hole saw drilled super smooth. The Dimensions: 8" x 3" x 6" Black Box: 8" x 1.25" x 6" Tank usage: up to 100g, 800 GPH I used it on a 40 gallon Breeder. Video a few posts up in this thread. I use the Herbie drain style with a Gate valve and an Emergency. Silent except I'm using a very large return pump and I can hear water flowing over the teeth in the Weir. I put a small piece of aquarium black sponge stuff just below the teeth and its dead silent now. Just have to clean the sponge every couple of weeks. Check out video above for a better view.

I personally do not care for the eshopps... I have a Eclipse M on a frag tank, and it's just not that great. It meets my needs, but you will almost be sure to see a waterline. I put my template on the inside of the tank all the way to the trim and still see a water line no matter how much water I push with my return pump. Personally I'd go with a different overflow box. EMS or Modular Marine. Might cost more, but much better than the eshopps (of course that's just my opinion).

To be clear, you’re saying it’s just not that great because of seeing a water line?

Fiji Cube’s is better designed then Eshopps. The box is up too high so it can be noisy in comparison which is really frustrating.

Modular Marine is great as well when they are not backed up. Fiji Cube is out until the 18th of February.

Waterline is annoying. You do hear water trickle over the teeth as well. Rear box is low so you can’t adjust the water into the weir. Overall just not a fan of the design. There are much better options.

Do you have pics of this. I do have a serious problem with waterline as well

I have a video I posted on page 1 of this thread. I have no waterline. If you put the template on the outside of the tank next to the rim, it will be too low causing you to see the waterline. My black box sits flush on the top of the black rim on the 40 breeder.
