Dual siphon overflow, is this stupid?

Another opinion, I agree with what @RobB'z Reef said. Here is another aspect to consider, by using two full syphon drains you will have to split the flow in two. That means a smaller restriction (gate valve opening) per line. Smaller orfices will clog easier than one larger one.

Are they not side by side? Drill hole, 1 is now a refuge.

I do not have a pic of actual sump, but it is similar to this. With its two chambers and such.

A refuge isn't necessary for me, this is freshwater should have mentioned seeing as this is a salt forum.

Not many sumps in the fresh game, that's why I ask the pros

I don't mean to come off as snobbish or uninterested in your opinion. I appreciate them in fact.

Having a 55g wet/dry and utilizing only half of it, doesn't make sense. I receive added water filtration by utilizing the entire sump. There is a large benefit to using both inputs. I see no reason to cut those benefits off.

I'm not worried about flow to the sump, that can be resolved in several ways. My issue concerns the double input to the sump and whether to accomplish that with two siphons from a single overflow or two from independent overflows or even a split from one large siphon.

I feel the latter will cause issue.

That's a good point.

I would just really like to use the entire sump and I think two inputs is the only way. What would you do?

Well, now that we know it's a freshwater setup, I would have to change my answer a bit. It has been quite a while since I have had a freshy. Those wet/dry sumps aren't used too much for salties any more. But if I were to hazard another opinion, I would go as far as possible with a single line to a gate valve, then tee off to each sump input. But then again I could be way off base on this. Better to ask someone that has recent experience with freshwater setups.

I actually got the sump from a saltie, he must have had 10 or more tanks. I was really taken aback lol. They just kept coming, sweet setups. He mentioned wet/drys are hardly ever used anymore.
