Hi everyone. Wanted to show my progress if my tank. I am “duke_of_coral_62” on IG if you havent seen me post here. I started my tank in May of 2018 and I finished the cycle in late June of 2018. I always wanted to do a all SPS system with a mix of LPS so that’s how I attacked this tank. I started this tank 2 years after I broke it down when I moved to Pennsylvania and took a 2 year break I did try and move it which didn’t turn out so well. I got the itch again and restarted it. I got some new equipment which the wife wasn’t to happy with . Now this tank was a challenge for me. There are no LFS anywhere close to me and even fewer hobbyists. I started with all dry rock and no sand bed because I wanted as much flow as my corals could handle. First frags went in the day of Reef a palooza NY I believe 1 day after my cycle was over which everyone thought I was crazy doing but it worked out for me. I started the tank with my old AI sol blue lights with a Aquatic life Hybrid fixture. The AI sols lasted about 3 months before I switched to Radion G4 pros which I am happy I used these. Amazing lights. First few months were challenging, figuring out to make my Ro/DI with well water, having many algae blooms and planaria flatworms. Got all the issues straightened out in a few month and the corals started to take off. I do have a dedicated fish tank room where all my equipment is which makes maintenance a lot easier. I am running a 8” reef octopus calcium reactor as well to keep my levels right where I want them. For flow I have 3 gyres and 2 seaswirls. The tank has now reached the 2 year 4 month mark and is still doing great. Here are some pics of when I first started the tank, in between and now. Hope you enjoy
