DUKES tank thread

Gahhhh. Your tank is soooo pretty!!! I feel like I’ll never get to that point!

So how long did it take one of those colonies to grow from a frag to those massive beasts?

Also, do you sell the frags in your frag tank to help fund the reef?

So my tank is going through something. Hasn’t shown on the corals just yet. They all seem fine at this moment but Alk and Cal consumption has dropped dramatically. I keep my alk at 8.5 and calcium around 410-420. My calcium settings have been the same for probably close to a year. As you can see my ph in the reactor is way above melting range for arm. We shall see what it means or if I’m being paranoid

Have you checked the effluent DKH?

So after a month and a half I think the tank is back on track. Still have about 5 colonies with no color. Very grey or brown. Lost another milli colony but it could have been worse. So what was it you may ask? Contaminant? Voltage getting in the tank? No it’s not anything like that. So I usually do a 25gallon per week water change to where I don’t need to lower the flow or turn off my return pump. I have enough volume I can just remove 25 gallons and add my new water. Well after my tank overheated due to not keeping the door in the Fishtank room open or opening up the AC vent I did a 70 gallon water change. Water that volume I had to lower the flow to 1 on my return pump. Well my brain muscle memory after a 1/2 hour of changing the water, new sock and carbon I forgot to raise it again. I have a lot of flow in the tank that nothing looked out of the ordinary. So after that large change I skipped a week of water changes. Corals we’re still suffering so I made some more water to do another large water change. I hit the button on my return pump and only the first setting lit up. So for 2 weeks my return pump was on 1 and trickling water into the DT. It’s been about 2 weeks or so and I am getting color back slowly and PE has been a lot better. Hoping my tank will recover from this dopey mistake. 2 colonies may not make it but the rest are looking better. Didn’t feel like breaking out the new camera so here’s a quick cell pic

A few quick pics . Tank is recovering nicely. Had a few rough months with the tank and lost a couple corals. Some are still up in the air to survive but 90% are back to normal

Absolutely gorgeous! Sorry to hear about some coral loss. Everything else looks super healthy though.
