So first off I know these guys are tempermental but one has been closed 7 days and today the other started shrinking. Just want to be sure I'm not missing anything. All others look fine, did feed corals today in hopes it may help.

Parameters

Ph 8.02
Nitrate 15 (down from over 50 few months back)
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Mag 1400
Alk 9.8
Cal 490
Pho .003

Haven't moved them in well over a year (although clowns knock one that's closed over occasionally..)

I would keep feeding, and do a small water change. Duncan's can get ***** for no reason, and be fine the next day
I did one Saturday, about 10 percent. Just never had one closed this long, my leather yes but not duncans. I'll do another water change tomorrow and keep eye on all other corals..just bugging the **** out of me

Stupid me figured it out I think, powerhead was in different position (must of hit it while cleaning) it was blowing right on him, moved it back and he's slowly reopening, hopefully will open fully soon

Well day 13 and still looks the same as day 8, healthy and colorful but not extending. I don't know what's wrong at this point, all other corals are thriving including bubble now

It might be too late now but do you dose any other of the elements or have you tried dipping the coral? I have no scientific back up but I was told Duncans need an addition of strontium for their skeleton to be healthy and green. Mine went through a rough patch once. I added additional Trace elements and strontium and it worked for me. Now it's possible I was told complete BS but I am just sharing what once worked for me. Reef dip might be able to help it bounce back. It helped me when I accidentally injured an Acan.

I dose seachem fusion 1 and 2 part. It is colorful and definitely alive. I do not dose trace elements. I have another duncan who is doing great also. I could try dipping it tonight I guesz...wont hurt to atleast. Thank you

The duncan in my tank will routinely close for a few days and then open up with some new budding polyps. When it closes up, I just wait for it to open up with a few new little baby heads!

Mine is on day 13 with little to no opening, it's done this before but never more than 5 days

I am wondering if it has to do with nu nitrate drop...i have gone from about 50 down to about 15.. do they like higher nitrates I wonder? I had them running high for a LONG time due to faulty test kit

This is happening with my Duncan now. Normally it's the size of a softball. Now the tentacles are out but only little nubs. Like you, it was in the same place since the tank was started and then one day closed. Not sure if you've tried dipping, but I tried with CoralRx and Revive on separate occasions with no net positive results. I was running my take at near zero Nitrates but have moved away from that. Like yours, the color is still there, just not the extension of the tentacles. Good luck, following this to see how it unfolds for you. Since closing up it has been about 3 months of the little nubs and not the long tentacles it once had.
