Duncan photos

Nice blueness. Mine get all wrinkly with more blue. I originally had an extra actinic but I had to take it off.

I actually just shattered that bulb by mistake. What a mess in flip flops.

Thanks S.D. Been thinking of cutting off a couple to give away.

It's that first cut that's the worst.

I closed my eyes and went "hommanahomannahomanna eeeeh!"
And it was a perfect cut.

There is a chance that you can shatter the branch if it is too small. But it will grow back usually.

Pretty hardy coral for being so costly.

In Australia they give en away like Kenya trees lol

So if you look at my pic of it closed up, you basically just cut around a head and down to the base? It looks like its one big ball when they are all closed up. which happens kind of frequently at night. Does yours close up at night? I'm always paranoid something is wrong.

Yeah mine closes as soon as the white lights turn off.

It sometimes even closed mid day and I have no high noon or anything.

If there is a solid Section that is all skeleton and you can cut it without damaging the flesh that is your best bet. The closer to the main branch the better as it gives you less chance if shattering the frag. I would suggest dremel over snipping only bc I know I have had some close calls and it is less accurate.

I majored in sculpture in college so I have a good feel for how things break lol

Yes hardy it is but it can be temperamental changing appearance sometimes for reasons unknown only to come back nicely extended a few hours later or less. Mine usually shows short tentacles for a while after the lights have been on for an hour or so and then they get longer and thinner, and then after a number of hours it goes back to the shorter thicker tentacles. But a great coral indeed and one that grows new heads rather quickly IME.

And on the Kenya Tree ... no thanks, the one little cluster I had grew like weed and then started to frag by itself and dropping branches that just attached to whatever rock the current got them to, and soon I had them all over the tank. Eventually I just took it out. It is however a good "control" coral as it reacts to water chemistry changes really quickly and just collapses on itself until whatever is wrong is corrected, often iME a pH change due to evaporation or even a water flow change from what I was able to observe after I moved a live rock. Do like the Duncan though and also the Candy Cane ones

Mine balls up when it captures food and stays that way for an hour or more ... It seems to like just about anything I feed the fish and corals, Mysis, Cyclop-eeze, Spirulina, Sera marine mini pellets, Hikari marine sinking ones, and whatever else I add.

New Duncan! Can't wait to see how this one opens compared to my first one.
Which is now looking even nicer

Looking good ... it's getting there for sure ... Read my article on Ducans in the Article section and leave some comments and pics there will you

Yes I will check out the article for sure! What's the link? Tapatalk doesn't show all the forums. I had to start my clownfih thread on the iMac lol.
