Here's the new Duncan next to the old one after acclimation. It's less pink and has yellow tips. Hrmm? Could this grow up to be like mine? Hope not! Go diversity!

Looks more like the coloration I have ... no green center on mine and tentacles looking different shorter and thicker most of the time.

Mine doesn't really change much. It grows heads without actually shrinking up. However I just visited a frag I sold a while back and it was pale green and stubby looking but had an additional 5 sprouts growing. I assume that's just another way they grow, kind of like m purple sea whip that closes up when it is growing branches.

I'm going to print out a pic of some clowns being Duncanaciously hosted, maybe it will train mine!

Yes they seem to grow in different ways depending mostly on the flow and lighting combination, but IME more so due to the flow strength and type. And yes clowns will indeed try to host them. And the lighting does affect their color as I see some with more purple and not so much seamy color even on the tentacles.

Mine will also vary the thickness of their tentacles from short and thick, to long and thin, and seem to do so even if the flow and light are not changed, but definitely change shape if food that they can trap is added to the water. They demonstrate all kinds of behaviors which makes them all the more interesting I guess.

Not sure whether yours and other owner's do, but mine sometimes closes up completely foe hours on end, even up to nearly a day sometimes. In fact right now it is totally closed, but should re-open when the lights come on later today.

Looking great. Love that nice green color and the polyp extension ... looks like it is doing real well for you. Keep the pic coming ... Has it grown a lot of new heads since you got it? Nice view of the mouth of the polyp at the bottom. Looks even like it is ready for some food.

Duncan was my first coral back in 2008. It was two heads back then, but has grown a little bit the past four years. I have two others that I have acquired trying to get other colorations.

Here's a picture of some duncans in my old tank (several years ago):

Just starting to get back into the hobby again, so here's a picture of the frag I picked up about 2-weeks ago:

Thanks! If i remember when i got it, it had 2 or 3 heads now it has 6. Every now and then ill notice a new head forming. Once in a while ill feed it some mysis but my clownfish and blood shrimp usually go after it.
