Bean Animal all the way if you have enough holes in your tank (or can get it drilled).

My new 150g has a Bean and I love it. Quiet, no floods, easy to tune, etc. It has a center trapezoidal overflow with holes for 3 1" bulkheads drilled in it. Return lines are drilled high on the back wall.
My 75g corner used a durso (often loud flushing noise despite tuning top hole size extensively) and is drilled for a 1" drain and two 3/4" supply lines in the bottom of the overflow. I am going to use those 3/4" lines for the main siphon and the open channel and use the 1" for the emergency overflow. this will require drilling a new return in the back, but seems easy enough

Is the existing setup giving you any problems? Nothing wrong with a Durso if you accept it's limits. That's what I currently have. Anything better than would be easy to convert it to? I'm not very handy with plumbing. Perhaps a kit?

Interesting but way over my skills level. Plus I only have one drain and one return.
