Dying fish

The rapid death suggests velvet, however the picture suggests ICH. How long from the time you saw symptoms to them dying was it?

No 2 weeks ago I noticed symptoms. Went to my lfs. They told me to feed them ich shield. Fish started dying one at a time. Each being examined and find ich on them. The tomini tang started showing symptoms last wensday. On sat I took him a skunk clown and my dotty back out and put them in copper qt. The skunk and dotty back died in a matter of hours. The tomini tang just died last night.

Seems that if you add coral 'now', and leave the tank fallow for 76 days - you do the same thing as keeping a separate coral QT tank - UNLESS you have coral in your current tank - and there is some coral disease on the new coral.... From The Ich.Velvet standpoint, adding coral and letting the tank be fallow for 76 days is fine.

I apologize, so they were taken out and put in Qt with copper?

Yes. The deaths in qt just happened over the last four days.

Did you do the full dose all at once? Just to clarify all the deaths you've had were in QT, not in the main tank?

The deaths started in main tank. The last three deaths were in qt. Yes I did the full dose at once. I checked copper before putting the fish in.

One thing I would suggest is to raise copper slowly while the fish are in. I did cupramine before and ramp to full dose within one day. Casualties occurred that night...
