So far I have only looked at sellers that were top sellers and actually had stores in their areas.
Hobbyists are out there as well but figured it would be best to buy from an actual vendor who was a store owner.

I have a lot of nice coral on ebay each week. There are many members on this thread that can verify that I am one of the good sellers on eBay. Check out my signature, it has a link that will take you to this weeks auctions. Power Seller and Top Rated Seller.

I would only buy from a reputable person on ebay. I would try to find out as much about them as I could. If you buy from somebody like the guy above me, the dog in a uniform, you cant go wrong.

I've found some great steals on Ebay. It is good to go with the reputable dealers and individual sellers. A hint of advice though, if it looks to good to be true, it probably is! There are those who play with Photoshop and edit their corals to look out of this world. Some corals are real, some aren't. Overall, it doesn't hurt to look especially if you can get discounted shipping for multiple pieces. It really saves a lot of money.

I will check out your links. Thanks!

You're right! the sellers I'm looking at allow you to at least ship upto 10 pieces which helps on the shipping.

We have purchased from reefpets, aqua-sd, rngret, rare corals, reef empire, f-n-f (fishnfrags) and others. The ones I mentioned we have had good luck with. WE have bid on items from WWC and auctionme this (OIAB) and did not win. We have always heard great things about the later two, just havent won their auctions yet. Just our expierience, hope it helps.

Ive been ripped off on e-bay...Being sold a Purple/ green tiped BTA for 100++ to get it and it was white! They sent a new one ( trying to make it right) but this one was green with purple tips...I just gave up! Now i have 2 NEm's that i really dont want!

My advice would be before buying make them take a Photo and send it to ya, to make sure your buying what you pay for! Alot of photo shopping going on

or trust a vendor that sells on ebay..........bought from oceaninabox and reefpets lots of times........and ive been happy with their corals.

Feedbacks are the important thing to check. Make sure to buy from sellers with lots of uiqure feedbacks and feedback scores close to 100%. My 00.2.

i never have (likely never will)
even if you discount all the fraud that happens by purchasing from reputable people it just seems to me that if you buy an item on ebay then you have all that shipping - you may or may not be able to combine other orders to spread out the cost ect ect

why not just buy from a fellow hobbiest on forums like these (or the sponsors), pay a fair price, and have some self assurance that the person your dealing with is reputable, and have the advantage of being able to do a frag pack or multiple item order so shipping isn't so bad

I agree with the idea of buying from a vendor who happens to sell on eBay. I have purchased from reefpets and AquaSD and been very happy.

What you have to watch out for is this: Say you go to Reef Pets (very good seller by the way, I have bought from him) and you bid on several corals so that you can make the order worth your while when it comes to shipping. At the closing of the auction you have been out bid on all your corals, save one, and that coral cost you 10 bucks or less. That 10 bucks turns into 35 bucks when you factor in the shipping.
You just have to keep that shipping cost in the back of your mind before placing a bid. One side note, lol, if reef pets would put more corals on his web site, he would get alot more of my money.

Well guys I did check feedback and weighted this heavily. Then I checked out their own company websites. And finally I asked questions and waited to see how quick they were to respond back to me.
So far so good.
Will let you all know if I do win any auctions.

The positive side to this(getting outbid) is you can always ask if there are any duplicates or 2nd chance offers available. I normally always allow a person to buy additional stock to help offset shipping cost. And if there isnt anything available I have let them carry over the order to the next auction round with success. By the way, yes we too sell on ebay and have a good track record. We try and sell every other week and here is our latest items which just ended.

I would also check with Mr. Coral. His store name is "rarecorals" He is a very reputable dealer and deals with alot of rare and hard to get corals. I've spoken to him a few times and he is very knowledgeable. He deals alot with Jason Fox and has no problem informing you which of his corals might be the next hot thing on the market. Best of luck
