I just updated my ESL app on my iOS device. DO NOT DO IT! There is a bug in it and it crashes every time it opens. It doesn't matter how many times it gets deleted and downloaded, it still crashes. I talked to one of my guys at the LFS and he is experiencing the same issues..

If anyone got it to work, please tell me what you did. I'm highly irritated as I loathe using my laptop to control my lights.

Jenn

Yes on calling them. They were no help. It's not the phone. I was controlling my lights fine both last night and this morning before I updated the software.. Very irritated and annoyed.

Mine was doing the same thing, so my GF got on the phone with ecotech today and got going, turned out it was the Reeflink causing the problem, she said they flashed it from their side and now it all working again, and I can control my pumps

Mine are working fine as well. You probably have, but I will ask anyway, did you try powering cycling all the devices: iPhone, Reeflink, and Vortechs? Which version of the OS are you running on your phone? I'm running version 1.0.4 of the EcoSmart Live app. iPhone OS is at version 7.1

I'm surprised that Ecotech ended the conversation without resolving the problem.

I have no clue what happened but when I got home my lights were goin crazy... They were ramped up to 100 percent flickering between all the colors :( corals aren't looking very happy right now

I tried resetting mine, no help, call them back, they will figure it out, is the ecosmart live working right on your PC? Mine wasn't working right all the time but the phone didn't work at all

Yeah I don't have it on my phone just my ipad. The only thing I did was look at the pump tutorial. I'm so upset idk what went wrong and of course my reeflink wasn't working and the ecosmartlive wouldn't recognize my lights :( gah

The system sure is stressing out a bunch of people, gonna be nice when they got it right, shame they couldn't have done it before we spent all this money

Although there are bumps in the road, I like how progressively Ecotech has been developing their products. (Of course I would be singing a different tune, if my system was broken.)

Okay I got everything figured out on my end, I keep ecosmart live open on my computer logged in and on my ipad logged in. Somehow it caused chaos, after I turned off the iPad app I was able to reprogram everything. My app now works great with the pumps, going to be a long night of playing lol

I have rebooted everything. iOS is 7.1 (my husband is super ticked I upgraded it because he had finally gotten 7.0.4 jailbroken..lol). I thought maybe it was a compatibility issue, which is what the guy had suggested yesterday as well. If I hadn't spent a small fortune on my lights, pumps, backup batteries, and ReefLink, I would have quit them ages ago.

The computer software is a nightmare to operate. It never wants to connect. I feel like I'm crossing every free limb of my body every time I even change one small setting on the lights..

Some days, ESL is PMSing on IE and I have to use Chrome to log in.. Other days, it hates Chrome and will only work with IE..

Gotta love technology ;)

This is very useful information, thanks for sharing. I could see a lot of people having the app up, while it is also running on their PC.

Jailbreaking the phone can cause some apps to work unexpectedly. I don't want to be Captain Obvious, but Ecotech recommends using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari to run ESL.
