Run feed mode........ time runs out and pumps kick back on 1 pump falls off the glass shakes violently . Put it back on the glass and now its making noise. I contact Ecotech and the first customer service disaster begins. I email them back and forth until March and finally give up on them doing anything . Fine ill live with a noisy pump i guess it still works its just annoying to listen to when they are supposed to run " silent"

I again run feed mode....... avoided this feature for months. First time i run feed mode again the timer ends pumps kick back on and the left pump shakes violently and falls off the glass . This pump is now fully broken wont even run.

I email back ecotech and again they are running me around in circles . no replacements offered .

I am not expecting much to come from this . I guess ill have to buy new pumps and i sure as hell wont ever be buying anything from ecotech again. They are an embarassment as far as im concerned and i gave them the benefit of doubt for months to do the right thing and they just drag you along never honouring the 1 year warranty . its pretty disgusting to be honest

Sure im not the only one that has experienced this ?

Did the dry side hit the ground?
Is the dry side anchored to the tank with zip ties?
Is the wet side clean?

Mine jump when dirty.

I've enjoyed my MP40 for the most part except that I have no way to shut it off or activate a feed mode remotely which is what I really want. It took me too long to realize plugging into my Neptune energy bar was useless since I also have it plugged into the ecotech battery backup. Silly me.

Dry side hit the ground both times - yes
not anchored with zip ties that is optional and i think it looks unattractive so i did not do this. They should make this mandatory though since literally everytime i use feed mode they shake and fall off the glass
wet side is never clean? whose is? haha coraline algea and GHA on them . I clean them monthly but they get dirty again within a few days

Ok so Ill admit I made a mistake i just reviewed the manual and it does say this is below

"The provided cord-mounting tab MUST be used to prevent damage to the motor or the surrounding environment"

I was wrong its my fault they broke. However you think they would have mentioned this on any of the email and phone conversations i have had with them ????? instead of just running me around in circles

This whole situation is just frustrating

Well. if you are shopping for new pumps Tunze offers some excellent products backed with exceptional customer service (not that you will need to use it).

Replace the bearings, there is a thread on how to do it.

I was considering the red sea wave gyre bar too . Is it any good?

I do not have any personal experience with those pumps to be able to share. It is my understanding that they are manufactured by Maxspect for RedSea. I would imagine they would be on par with the Maxspect in terms of quality and maintenance.

Tunze are the Toyota Camry's of the wave maker world. EcoTech, MP40s are the Ferraris. I own both, and enjoy both, but I just get Hyundai's now (Jebao's), they run well for a while, then dispose of them and get another!

They also put a Nem guard in there, If you don't install it then is it there fault if the nem gets sucked thru the pump?

I have had no issues with Ecotech or the customer service. Hands down one of the best experiences. If they replaced the product every time a customer makes a mistake they would either not be in business very long or the product would be so much money that it would put it out of reach for every other hobbyist.

I vote Tunze also. They make good products. Currently running Nero’s and they’re pretty decent. They did kill a few small fish, but other than that, there’s nothing really bad to talk about. I found one pump off one day…Resent it, and it was good to go.

So it’s mandatory to tie-wrap the dry side to the glass. That’s crazy. I hope the tie-wraps are small and transparent. That would bug me.

It's a trade off for no wires in the tank. Something needs to hold the motor from falling

I swapped out my mp40s for Octo pulse4s controlled by hydros wave engine. Best move I made.

Why doesn’t the dry side use the sticky silicone that the IceCap Gyre exterior magnets use or the exterior magnets on the Reef Octopus OctoPulse pumps. They don’t drop off the tank when the pumps are removed. Anyway…

The OctoPulse 2 and 4 are amazing. I love mine.

This does not help you now but may in the future if you get them repaired:

You can edit the feed mode speed with helps prevent them from stalling for me.

Tap the little 3 dots in the top corner of Mobius, go to edit scenes, tap feed mode, tap Vortech and then you have this adjustment. It’s downright stupid they don’t explain this anywhere for such a “high end” product. They also don’t explain that this adjusts the minimum speed in modes like gyre anti-sync
