Why doesn’t the dry side use the sticky silicone that the IceCap Gyre exterior magnets use or the exterior magnets on the Reef Octopus OctoPulse pumps. They don’t drop off the tank when the pumps are removed. Anyway…

The OctoPulse 2 and 4 are amazing. I love mine.
Octo pulse says it's good for up to 500 gallons but only for 5/8 glass. That sound right? Glass would be thicker than that on a bigger tank. I'm looking at a 170 gallon with 3/4 glass.

Removed, forgot to quote who I was responding to.

Yes, that sounds correct, but they do sell an upgraded magnet for the few that might need it. Obviously it’s an added cost, but it is an option.

My Octopulse4s are on 3/4 inch glass no problem. I have octopulse2s on my smaller anemone tank that has thinner glass, but the 4's are fine on 3/4".

whats the noise level like on the octo pulses compared to other pumps? compared to tunze or ecotech?

Janruary 2022

Run feed mode........ time runs out and pumps kick back on 1 pump falls off the glass shakes violently . Put it back on the glass and now its making noise. I contact Ecotech and the first customer service disaster begins. I email them back and forth until March and finally give up on them doing anything . Fine ill live with a noisy pump i guess it still works its just annoying to listen to when they are supposed to run " silent"

Oct 2022

I again run feed mode....... avoided this feature for months. First time i run feed mode again the timer ends pumps kick back on and the left pump shakes violently and falls off the glass . This pump is now fully broken wont even run.

I email back ecotech and again they are running me around in circles . no replacements offered .

I am not expecting much to come from this . I guess ill have to buy new pumps and i sure as hell wont ever be buying anything from ecotech again. They are an embarassment as far as im concerned and i gave them the benefit of doubt for months to do the right thing and they just drag you along never honouring the 1 year warranty . its pretty disgusting to be honest

Sure im not the only one that has experienced this ?
I learned this OVER a decade ago and Agree wholeheartedly

Mine are silent. I never hear them. Never owned EcoTech as I refuse to try them, personal reasons. And I’ve used Tunze skimmers, but not their flow pumps. I use two OctoPulse 2 pumps opposite each other using a Hydros Wave Engine.
