Ecotech taking on Neptune

Hello,

Looks fairly simple and I can’t imagine other pumps are that much different. Some may use a different method but they all have the same end end point goal, and that’s dosing your tank.

What will be interesting is the price point on this compared to apex etc and ghl. Knowing Ecotech they won’t be cheap that’s certain. Better errrr it’s like comparing the dosing pumps used in ers to administer medication. They are much more precise and have a lot more I guess user friendly keys. But even when the hospital switch over some had new and some had old. They both worked the same but depending on the person they either liked the new one or stuck with the old. I can certainly see neptune etc upping the bar, since they pretty much control this section. They just won’t let Ecotech take the market from them. I can see them doing something much more elaborate to make a difference.
If this is indeed a continuous duty rated peristaltic pump, then indeed it is a game changer that only kamoer has right now. That, to me, is what would make this special since I run a calcium reactor. Otherwise, who cares about short duty cycle dosing pumps? That market is already saturated. Much of the discussion here seems to be control and controllers, so maybe I’d better watch the video to see how far my head is up my bum :)

I thought the same thing, this is going to give the calcium reactors users another option besides masterflex and FX-STP. If a single unit can stay under $200 and run more than 150ml per minute, I'm sold.

Sad thing is, I just purchased a Kamoer FX-STP a few months ago, still in the box....

I have real concerns about buying products designed by someone who would drink Miller Light (I am an iPA snob). Lighthearted humor

lol. I felt like home when I saw it. .

*in my defense, I drink everything.....*

Neptunes stepped on echotechs toes with the cor pumps and wavemakers. It’s all fair game now and we ( the consumer’s) will reap the benefits of the competition
If "consumers" keep dropping $1000 on these controllers they'll stay $1000

1 head is $150, same as apex DOS at $300. No?

Would want to compare the stepper motor and driver inside :)

I just like the fact there is no centralized controller box. And I do think the versa could be a game changer via it's modularity , app control, and possible micro dosing? Not sure about the last one (I would like it as I dose .20 ml Iodine nightly.

Better off diluting the solution by 5 and dosing 1ml

Couldn't you dilute the solution so that your dosing pump can deliver .2ml . Iodine via its minimum dosing cycle?

I wish they would talk a little about the circuit board. Specially what if anything they designed to prevent runaway on failure. I don’t really care if the doser fails off but fail on is a disaster

Neptune Systems IMO is making a potentially fatal error by closing off their ecosystem, if that is in fact true. I work for a large IT company and we used to have closed ecosystem platforms that only our largest enterprise customers could afford/implement. In essence, we paved the path for our competitors...we are still by far the largest but have been steadily losing market share in most categories for a while now, and I would attribute this largely to not playing well in the sandbox.

I like the idea of a platform/ecosystem that also makes itself open for integration/API. You know you are going to get the best user experience by purchasing all of brand X - however, there may be brand Y that makes that one component that solves your specific problem better and still provides accessibility into the rest of the ecosystem. In this example, brand X still captures a majority of the revenue...

From a design and branding sense ecotech really did their homework. The components, seem top notch for a stepper. The industrial design and parts accessibility are above other manufacturers; And the added detail for the hose connectors....awesome.

It would be interesting to know if the versa is rated for continuous duty and if it can be dynamically controlled.

What do you mean by dynamically controlled?

It sounds like it can be continuously ran at 150-200 ml per minute. although it can dose at a rate of 300 ml per minute.

That you could potentially vary the output based on alkalinity readings.

That you could potentially vary the output based on alkalinity readings.
Very good question, That would mean that they have to be able to take in an alk input. Wonder if they will team up with one of these automatic testing platforms like Alkatronic to do that?.....
