Just received delivery of an Elegance Coral. It is shaped like an ice cream cone...is it OK to just lay on its side, or does it need to be propped up or something?

Acclimated, dipped and put in the tank. I buried most of the cone under the sand. Had to move a bunch of my rocks, I have heard to keep away from rocks. Now where am I going to put my rocks?

Did I put it in correctly? ...I don't know how they open up (out to one side, straight up, out both sides...)
How long to wait before worrying if it is not opening? (I was thinking 2 days??)
If I don't like where it is, can I move it around...or is that just going to keep stressing it out?

MY FIRST EVER CORAL DIP!

Hey there! Looks good, the reason you hear “keep elegance away from rocks” is so as not to scratch their delicate tissue. As with LPS if their tissue gets damaged they can develop bacterial infection and retract/ die. You have it placed correctly. I have two elegance, one in my peninsula and one in my lagoon. Both are places near the sand bed (one in the sand bed) and out of direct light. Each has thrived for over a year. I spot feed maybe twice a week with Rods or reef roids. In my experience they are extremely hardy and as long as your parameters are good (read decent), they should thrive! My clowns hosted mine in my peninsula!

Location looks good and planted well in the sand
Mine is on the sand and has grown to the size of a soccer ball
