Does this coral look normal? I got it about a week ago, and it seems bloated. Maybe it's normal, but I'd like to know if something is wrong so I can addeess it before it's too late. Thanks!

It is bloated. It is often said that they look like this when they start to go south......however mine had done that a few times and is currently in great health.....

I would try to feed it more frequently. The tentacles are stubby in appearance. Elegant corals are difficult to start with. Please follow up with the corals progress to enlighten others.

Darn!! I just tried to feed it frozen mysis and brine shrimp, but it didn't seem to take it. I also target fed it Coral Frenzy ( for whatever that is worth). The rest of the tank is happy. Any thoughts as to what could be wrong? I read the reefkeeping article before purchasing it and many others. Many people thought the problems had a lot to do with too much flow and lighting.

Maybe you can try giving it more light.....it may be doing that to get more light.....(just a thought)

I'll try moving him directly under the lights. Hopefully that will help...

I had this happen to me and within about 2-3 weeks it died. There is a disease that attacks these corals Only and is incurable. I had a beautiful one that I lost and it looked just like your pic. RIP Elegant Coral.JPG A before pic. (this was a Aussie Elegant)

This is after the lights went out. It looks better, right? I can tell this coral is going to stress me out!

Time will tell....if it dies yours favored better. Ha! How long have you had yours? I wonder if there is a time frame where Elegance Coral Syndrome is no longer a threat.

Lol....the vender said it was an aussie but I have my doubts.....I had this one about 6 months..... I really don't know much about ECS...my last elagance lasted a few months and eventually started dying.....my current one looks really good and survived a few moves already....

Most say lower light, low flow in the sand placed horizontally. Some feed theirs, some don't. Don't add a new one in with an old one...
