Erin O's 75G Build

All good points. Just popped up and I thought about it, but not crucial and yes, you would need a light and a pump.
I still PM'd him. It seems like a pretty good deal, considering the cost of a new one on BRS

Also, I've been looking at the cleaner packages on ReefCleaners. I know I won't need a CUC right away, but how big of a crew should I have for this tank?

I currently have 10hermits and 2 turbos in my 36 and it needs more.
I plan on doubling that plus getting Brittle stars and cerith snails (sand sifter crew) the 90g I am picking up tomorrow (EEKKK) has feather dusters in the sump.
generally you want 1 hermit per 10 gallons but my LFS sells tiny baby hermits the size of pencil erasers and my Valentini has munched on a couple when I haven’t fed it mysis to it’s frequency of choice.
For 75 I would say you’d be good with 10 decent sized hermits, 3-4 turbos, and 3-4 sand sifters.

The title is a bit misleading, this is now a 29 G build. ;)

Thanks! The tank that we're setting up to start is going to be a 29g, due to my husband being a pain in the butt lol. We're hoping that once he sees how awesome having a reef tank is, he'll decide that having a 75g would be a fabulous idea. I'm so thankful for all of these enablers, because without them, my dream of having a reef tank wouldn't be happening :)

What a turd nugget!! I INSTANTLY grew out of my 36 within a month. This 90g popped up on FB market with a sump and stand for $300 (absolute steal). I wasn’t planning on upgrading this soon. But... wow. Your husband is gonna realize the cost difference is extremely minimal once you get the 29 going.

Hey! I love this post because I literally am in the process of going from 36 to 90 this week!!!
Just went from a 75 to 90 about 2 months ago. Petco manager made me an offer I couldn't resist. 90g tank for 150.
rule of thumb is about 1 hermit per gallon
I best up my hermits count. I have 15 so looks like I'm way under staffed in this department.

WOW!!! 29 hermits?! That seems like a lot! How about snails? I really want some of the nassarius snails. That way, Evie and I can play find the snail lol. I also know that I'll have to get empty shells to help keep my snails safe from the hermits. Its funny, I think I'm just as excited to get the CUC in there as I am to get the fish lol

hi go with something like 24 micro blue legs,12 astreas, would reccomend trohcus ,kinda hard to get rt now,6 nassarius, few margarita's to start ,not a big fan of reg blue legs

Find money or ring cowries, my joint favourite snail, watch them use their mantle! ;)

Honestly I find that if you get snails too, you can go without the 1 per gallon. I think that 15 hermits and 5 snails would be more than enough. Especially since your tank will be new and won't have much algae for them to feed off of.
