ESHOPPS Mariner 70 Build

I'm so sorry you had to find out this way. You should really think about installing "Purrental" controls on your laptop.

Studies have shown watching kitten videos all day can have negative effects on a cats well being.

More is more better because less shadows. I had 3 Noops over my 6' 125 and it was plenty of light. @Gtinnel has the same footprint but has 6 or 7 to minimize shadows.
I ended up with 6. I originally bought 5 but was still getting some shadowing from my cross braces. If my tank didn’t have plastic cross braces I probably could’ve got away with only 3 or 4.
I have a 36” long tank that I am going to add some Noopsyche lights to and I only plan on doing 2 lights because it’s a eurobraced tank instead of a rimmed tank.

I have a 40 breeder with a single Noopsyche. It works fine for LPS, edge of the tank is definitely low but some LPS prefer it.

Acros would be fine in the center 50% or more of the tank.

I would like to get a second though to even it out and just have ledges for low light corals.

Alk got to 6.8 in 5.8 days from 8.5. that's 0.7 tsp of Baking Soda for Alk daily. If I mixed Limewater it's almost a 1/4 gallon daily. I don't know I use that much top off water currently...

Baking Soda it is.

I've got 3 spare dosing heads but only 2 spare dosing chambers but I'm considering going with Randy's Recipe 2 and starting calcium and alkalinity. Since magnesium uses about 1/4 of the calcium and Alkalinity according to his recipe/article I can use a smaller dosing container for mag. I have a couple of 500 ml bottles that would work.

I evap about 10 oz of water a day from my 20 so 32 oz of evap wouldn't be too bad from your tank.

I use these if I need bottles. But I tend to keep them on hand because I brew mead as well so I always need them

We've got a bunch of glass bottles - my wife was doing kombucha for a while. I've also got mason jars because we used to do a bunch of canning.

I think I'll likely just rinse and reuse the old Magnesium bottles I have laying around though.

The only thing with Recipe 2 (or even Recipe 1) is that I don't have any calcium chloride so I'd need to purchase some of that.

I put the mag part in the calc part. It still confuses me why the two part recipe has three parts to it. I also use old milk jugs. Wash them out first though.
We don't drink much milk around these here parts. The dosing containers I have are 1.5 liters. Dosing Recipe 2 I'd be going through approximately 44 ml daily which would be just over a month's worth per container.

If you need gallons let me know. I can save some when the kids finish. Might be a bit since they went back to school though

We've got Vinegar bottle and water jugs lying around so I'm probably good.

I need to get back over to Aquaholics and grab the 5 gallons of RODI I won at that anniversary sale.

I also bought 2 powerheads that are half the gph of the one that's in there currently. It seems to be almost the perfect flow amount but I wanted 2 so it could have a little better multi-directional flow instead of just 1 direction. Amazon seems to have misplaced the first order and I had to wait 2 whole weeks to be able to cancel the order and get a replacement. The replacement finally showed up this afternoon. I'll probably get them installed tomorrow.

I got my IOAOI skimmer today. I don't think it's large enough for the 75, maybe if you have a drain line hooked up or a very light bioload.

I've put it on the 40 even though I have a large refugium. Going to give it a few weeks to see how it works out.

How do you like yours @tbrown

I’m waiting for the 150-200 gallon version. The nano pumps impressed me. They blew the oem pumps on my nuvo 20 out of the water even at 50%.

The DC controller is something I really wanted. I have a reef octopus int110 on my 75 now. It does excellent but the footprint... Takes up a lot of room
