Estuary Lagoon (IMLagoon25)

Saw this remora at a lfs. If only I had a bigger tank :[ 20240802_132751.jpg
Wow that is SO cute!!
Awesome coral selection, they’ll look so good!

Good and bad update: Good update is that corals are here and they look incredible. Bad update is the ruby mithrax crab decided to take a chunk out of my favorite coral (the orange blastomussa) He is now in the cup of shame. Pictures:

I think I'll replace him with an orange sponge decorator crab that's at my lfs

These guys can go rogue too. Nice coral haul. Rock's gonna look great once they start filling in and growing over. Be sure to keep alk in check

Yeah I've got a proper alk test kit on the way right now I've got test strips and my lfs to test my water, most of these are mushrooms so alk shouldn't swing too much, but I'm debating whether I should keep the dipastrea and the freebie goniapora, because I’m not sure I'm ready for them yet lol

Here's a quick review of @SBB Corals in case anyone was wondering. Their corals are incredible and they really are 100% wysiswyg my frags look exactly like the pictures on their site. Everything was very well packaged and insulated and my corals survived the southern heat. Highly recommend!

The stand should always fit the tank regardless of rimmed or not. Peace of mind. I think that is 1 reason for the redsea failures.
Sorry, late response but, yes. Red Sea failures, at least from my understanding of a conversation with one of the previous engineers there, are caused primarily from confront support. They designed the tank front to be flush with the front of the doors which offered 0 support to the front panel of glass which, when coupled with the weight of the water, allowed the glass to sag just enough to cause seam failures. Looked nice and clean until they failed though!

Gonis either thrive or dive. If it's a freebie, SBB has some of the best in my opinion.

Just wondering if you've kept one, if so what did you feed it? I've heard amino acid supplements make them much easier.

I've kept several. I had lots doing really well for the first year or so and then they all gradually shrunk to nothing.

@steveschuerger and @Reefing_addiction have some that are doing quite well. I think Steve does AB+...

Heyo. I broadcast feed frozen to the whole tank and use AB+. I have several varieties of powdered foods but haven’t used them in a while. Honestly the best thing for them is decent flow and lighting that isn’t too strong.

Sounds good! How long has your goni addiction lasted?
