Ever had dreams about your tank?

Last night i had an absolute nightmare that a giant fire worm was in my tank, id try to get it out with big tweezers and they went through it like a ghost. I couldnt do anything but watch it eat my corals infront of my face LOL. Woke up and immediately checked my tank with a sigh of relief.

What dreams good or bad have you had with your tanks?

I have very strange dreams sometimes about my fish like free swimming in my room. I have a tank on one side and I will picture them like causally swimming about as if everything was underwater.

Haha, hadn’t thought about this for years. One of my ‘favorite’ comics story was The Gourmet by Berni Wrightson where a chap who loves eating frogs legs gets his comeuppance ..... really creepy! I used to have a similar dream where I was being pursued by the corpses of all the animals that had died in my efforts to keep a reef tank. Not sure what that says about my mental well being .... fortunately I don’t have it anymore LOL.

I had a dream where I caught a couple of my very young grand kids standing on the tank stand with their arms in the tank up to their shoulders. Suddenly they were IN the tank swimming around like fish that belonged there and the tank had become massive! Needless to say, it scared me awake. As I lay there trying to calm down, it occurred to me how awesome my tank had become. I tried to go back to sleep hoping I would see it again. Just the tank. Not the toddlers swimming in it.

Not often, but if I have had a dream a few times involving an epic tank failure on my basement grow out water system of 3 frag tanks and two sumps.

One dream was real enough that I spent some time the next morning doing a "what if" walk through which was insightful. Step 1, throw the two circuit breakers!
Step 2, grab fish toss into...
Step 3, and so forth.

Agree with others. They're usually nightmares. Not good dreams at all.

I will admit that I've gotten up out of bed to make sure it was only a dream and there really wasn't water gushing out of my tank. Several times over the years actually.

I have no idea why, but my tank dreams are always with running out of ATO reservoir RODI water (and none on hand) and the tank salinity skyrocketing with low tank water level.

Often in the same dream, I forget I have another tank setup in the basement with fish-only that somehow survive without food and maintenance, and the same salinity issue.

I have unresolved issues with something lol.

Yes.... I had a nightmare!! I was asleep on the couch and apparently a peppermint shrimp was trying to eat me. I jumped up, screamed and ran to the other side of the living room with the blanket. @ChelseaBidwell (wife) was awake and witnessed the whole ordeal

I work for a municipality, and every year we do a big Christmas light display. It was a month straight of being on a genie boom 40' feet up putting lights in the trees. Well, needless to say, my strangest dream(nightmare?) yet was where I was putting little tiny Christmas lights on my rocks and corals....

everytime i do the rockwork in a tank ( usually late night) i dream that im sleeping but my pillow is the rocks and just my head and arms are in the tank. the horror of it all is that ive completely destroyed my rockwork getting comfortable... and i know how to get comfy.

so all in all i wake up shivering, cold sweats, run to the tank... and everything is fine... lol

During my 20 year of reefing, I’ve had numerous dreams about my tank and it always comes after I spend lots of time working on it and have it on my mind. Probably my third most common type of dream:

1). Lost on college campus/can’t figure out my class schedule, can’t figure out padlock for my locker/homework isn’t done...and I haven’t been in college for 12 years!

2). Need to use bathroom but every toilet is overflowing / the stall is so small you can’t sit down / toilet in the middle of a room with tons of people.

3). Fish being outside the tank or my tank being really huge, or my fish being huge, etc. It always seems like a major problem At the time.

I’m currently on vacation and had a dream last night where I got home and my melanurus wrasse had popeye and shredded fins.

seriously tho, all my tank dreams are bad dreams and I think I’ve dreamed all of the above, including leaks, tanks crashing through my ceiling, fish flying around my front yard, you name it. Stressful hobby this can be for something that's supposed to relax you!
