Everything is gotten expensive

I agree they do, including store owners. Which is why it’s a dilemma… which side is supposed to think of others?

also, if I can sell 10 widgets at 50, or 7 widgets at 75… how am I harmed? That’s what we’re seeing now… the equilibrium moved
Why competition is supposed to keep prices in check. Once demand equalizes with supply then prices are supposed to drop. Why the Fed raises rates. To curve demand. Although that's a fine edge as too much of curve and suddenly you have over supply and that's not good, either. Likely find ourselves in a recession. On the bright side, those LED's should drop in price. Should... No guarantee. Greed often ruins a good thing.

Why do people think the prices will drop? They won’t. That was like the fed lying saying it would be transitory and prices would come back down, then it was transitory means not that long, now transitory is a meme the federal reserve will never utter again. The price is only going up so much because your money isn’t worth as much as it was yesterday but those items hold their value relative to inflation so they appear to cost more when in reality it costs the same. Shipping costs are only a small part of the price increase so that probably won’t drop either. I don’t mean any offence by this but I feel like a lot of people don’t understand how inflation actually works and why it’s so damaging.

Greed seems to be the explanation most often chosen by people who understand nothing about how the world works.

You sell widgets
You have 50 on hand
They cost you 10 to make to sell so 500
if you sell them for 20 you will have 1000
OO you are rich!!!

The next 50 will cost 20 or more to make to sell because of "supply chain issues that are in fact things that may never go away".

So the next 50 will cost 1000 to make
and you have to eat
OO you are not rich, you have nothing to eat!!!!

What do you sell the 50 you have now for considering you wish to eat and stay in business selling widgets?

Is it greed or necessity when you sell them for 25. They only cost 10 to make.

I'm pretty sure I understand how inflation works. Understanding it how I put that overpriced bread on my family's table. :)

Smart businesses carry little inventory and try producing to meet demand. Auto manufacturers have perfect Just In Time. Most small to medium size businesses haven't. Why often small businesses fail to adjust to demand.

Do you run a Business? I do and you're theory is just that. Businesses purchase equipment, hire employees, pay taxes, rent space, have maintenance overhead on said equipment with payments... Purchase fuel etc etc... There's more to it than selling widgets. So how much did you make on your widgets after all that?

LOL
I only did for 17 years.
I kind of lumped all those things into the cost to make more widgets.

yes indeed... A shadowy cabal of used car salesmen devised a plan to artificially inflate the price of used cars by 40% year over year.
Not a cabal of car salesman. More like a cabal of overlords who seem to think printing money and giving it away is the path to prosperity for all.

I wasn’t really meaning to point at you specifically for that sorry, no offence intended. it was more just because you said the price of lights should come down I replied to your comment with a big general statement.

Thanks for keeping this up. I know you guys don’t like politics but I think we need to be able to separate economics from politics sometimes so people can actually learn what is affecting them and how to get ahead of it. Lots of good discussion on here and honestly I don’t think I’ve seen something this loaded be this civil online for a while. One of the reasons I love this forum compared to the cesspool on other social media’s.

randy has some info on how you can dose your tank for 10$ a year with dowflake & baking soda
Thats what I have been doing. Why do people do anything else. That stuff you buy for $100.00 in a fancy container is Dow Flake ice melter which is basically free.

Thanks, so did I. :D
