Exact iDip Digital Water Testing

From what they are telling me as when I run all these test the app will will give me the mag automatically. What I will try later is running the alk and cal test back to back then see what results it gives me.

Yes I will have to pay for them separately.

That seems weird and unnecessary. They have already told us publicly in this thread (post #26) how they calculate magnesium, and it doesn't involve sulfate, chloride or alkalinity (and shouldn't). To make people pay for them can only be explained by poor software.

Will be contacting them on the way to work cause I don't understand that myself cause they also told me that all I needed was cal and alk for mag and I would not need the chloride for saltwater setup.

Just got off the phone with them. They are saying all I need to do is the alk and total hardness and I will get mag will try that if I have time when I get in later.

Will be doing a Google hangout with ITS the manufacturer of Exact iDip Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm EST.
If you have any questions please post them to this thread so that I can see that we can get answers to your questions.
You can also. PM me if you wish.

Little update found out why I can not get a mag reading they are not able to read the levels for our tanks yet they only read as hi as 1000ppm when it comes to mag and we keep ours over that but he did tell me that they will be updating that.

One way around that now is to dilute the tank water with RO/DI. 1:1.

Then it will come into range. :)

Will you then post it on your youtube channel after? Edit: I see you just answered this.
For the google hangouts day... do folks just send an invite to Ed Wiser? I'm on a desktop only. I've never used it before thanks in advance.

As to logging, I'd like to see what the logging feature looks like and how to share with excel spreadsheet (from the product flyer). Maybe a topic for the friday hangout. How do folks like to compile the results email or other method? Thanks.

Sorry I haven't been on to post this week, I see this thread has been going strong. Thank you Randy Holmes-Farley for clarifying everyone's general chemistry questions! You are doing an excellent job and everything that I read looked accurate and relevant to our testing.

I do want to clarify for those concerned about Mag testing the only tests you need are total hardness high range (THH) and calcium (CA) the web page posted a few days ago is general page on all of our auto calculations. For example if you want to get a sodium result you would run the required tests (SO4, CL-, etc...), but sodium is not a test that is designed for marine water.

As reefwiser had stated we will be doing a Google hangout this afternoon to answer everybody's questions and I'll try be more active on the forum to answer them here.

I was told that the idip cannot give a proper reading for our mag levels yet do you know when it will be updated to read our mag levels ?
