Exact iDip Digital Water Testing

Our goal is to have Nitrate, Phosphate and Magnesium testing in the appropriate range by the end of the year. It is somewhat tentative only because we have no way of knowing what road blocks we will run into. It has been about a month since MACNA and we have gained so much information already. Hopefully updates will be sooner than later, but we cannot put an exact date on it. I assure you we are working hard on making a product that is geared toward the reef industry.

Sorry I am working 7 days a week and 12 hour days right now at work.:)

Thanks Reefwiser... Appreciate you posting the video..

I have used my idip twice so far. I am going to give it a few more uses and post up some thoughts. I have mixed feelings so far. It has been all over the place as far as readings.. when it actually decides to read.. So Hopefully its user error at this point. Again nice video. ...

You need to contact Chris at ITS [email protected] let him know your issues and get feedback.

How different is "all over the place"?

Would I need to purchase the marine version kit or is it the same as the aquarium version. I see two different place to check on the front of the kits. Are they different?

Here are my examples. I tested with Salifert Test kits
Tests were a week apart here were my readings. Tank is fairly new and just finishing cycling
10/11
Salifert tests
Salinity -1.026
alk-7.7dkh
ph-8.0
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - 25
Calcium -490
10/18 Week later and 3 water changes - Salifert Test again
Salinity- 1.026
alk - 6.7dkh
ph-8.0
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - 0
Calcium 480

Got my idip and started testing. I used a bunch of strips since I wasn't sure if I was getting accurate readings. Here is what I was getting.
10/22
570 pH PH:7.8
570 Alkalinty, Total AL : LO ppm

10/24
570 pH PH :7.9pH
570 Nitrate, Marine Water N03 : 15ppm
570 Alkalinty, Total AL: HI ppm
570 Phosphate P04: LO ppm

10/25
570 Total Hardness High THH : HI ppm
570 Alkalinty, Total AL: 108ppm
570 pH PH: HI pH
570 Nitrate, Marine Water NO3 : 15ppm

With the nitrate test the idip unit kept counting up and after about 5 mins I just hit read and gave me the 15 number. It never read on its own. I could not get Ammonia to work at all and wasn't sure if I needed just to use the test strips or the drops or a combo of both. And if just the drops how many to use. New to meter testing but not new to reef testing. I test often with the Salifert testers so this sort of testing was exciting due to the ease and tracking aspect. any insight is welcome. could very well be user error.

You have to wait 10 minutes for nitrate. I had an issue that it counted over that but it was my meter got unsynced from the bluetooth had to reset my phone. Your alk surely seems all over the place. Watch the video and try again. It does sound like you may be doing something wrong.

No3 you have to wait for it to finish count up to get results. The alk is usually 2-4 points off of salifert. No3 only go as low as 0.15 for now

Read the manual there's a separate page with instructions for the ammonia. I havent run the test but I believe you condition the water with the drops first then do the test strip.

I have no clue why the ALK is reading the way it does. Assuming its the right test being its the 570 ALK test.

Ok wasn't aware that it took 10 mins. I will re run this and wait. Is this 10 mins every time?

didn't know about the 10 min wait time.

I will have to look again through the instruction manual but didn't find that part. Didn't know how many drops to use ect. Just didn't see where this process was illustrated.

appreciate the responses.

If you watch the video I ask that question.

He was getting LO and HI on many of the tests.

The instructions are a bit like a choose your own adventure. On the page with all the tests it says to go to step whatever for this one or step whichever for that one. Thats also the page if you look there an asterisk for the phos and nitrate that list how many seconds the test needs to wait. 600 on the nitrate and 120 for phosphate. Also it says to clean with vinegar after phosphate test.
