EXT 170 Build

Day 34.
Getting there with the 50.
It should be running this time next week.

Down to 1 damsel and the hawk.
Will be looking at some fish soon.

I blacked out the side of the 50. I can not get to it as it sits to close to the wall.

Day 38
I mounted all the corals.
2 platys are glued to the bottom
Added 1 aptasia eating File fish
2 blue eyed Anthias.
I had 2 in my 120 and one turned to male so the same here.
War coral, slimer, and Stylo are not glued down and can be moved if needed.
Jacko lepto has increased size and is just sitting on the bottom around 160 par. I have not decided where to put it yet.
I ordered 1 Tomimi Tang
and 1 female Swallowtail Angelfish and they should be here in 1-2 weeks at the LFS.
This way I get to see them
before purchase.
I still need to replace the 6 line that died in the powerhead.
That will be all the fish for awhile.
Thinking around 12 max limit for fish this time.

Did not have luck this time around with the damsels and am down to 1. Its still a nice fish but im not happy the other perished.

In a week or 2 I will place another Battlecoral order. Blue Matrix and a few others.

I am looking for a Potato chip pavona too.

The ext 50 frag system is ready for water anytime so I will be working on that.
A few pics.

Day 42- 6 weeks.
170 is stable at 7dkh. Im going to keep in a 7-7.5 range for now.
No3 20
Po4 .07

I have salt water in the 50 and the heater is on.
Im going to add anoher XR15 I have and run 3 now. Par was what I expected with 2 around 200 par at the rack.
That par level was great in my 80.
Looking for a little more par from the overlap with 3 running ab+ at 100/100
20240528_134706.jpg

While waiting for a coral delivery, potato chip pavona, today I added a third XR15 to the ext 50.

I was surprised at the par numbers but the 3 act like one oversized XR30. I will be able to turn them down and have plenty in reserve when needed.
Also the reflection off the front panel gave over 100 more par and the non reflective black gives 100 less when the meter is placed next to both edges.

Overall a more even blanket of light and par.
All par was taken with a Parwise meter.

Lights are 9" off the surface running ab+ max. Rack is 13" from the surface.

2 lights gave 180-200 across the middle of the tank directly under the 15's just like on my 80.

3 lights 330-340 across the same area.

7 + weeks.
Day 51
Added 5 frags from BC.
Lost the elm street from my last BC order. It was a new cut frag and a free one at that.

Started the co2 on my carx. Its been running 4 days and stable at an alk of 7.
Kamoer at 2mlm = 24 drops pm.
Bubble count at 24bpm and its holding an effluent alk of 20.

Starting to see coralline on my powerheads so it should start ramping up now with the carx online.

Dosing ez trace at 5ml a day and esv strontium at 5ml once a week.

Ozone is running on at 400 off at 420.

Couple pics.

@X-37B Tanks look great! how are you liking those photons? The 48s are on my short list for the 150.
I think it was a good choice. The one thing I really like is you can sit on the couch and look at the tank without getting blinded. I had to put shades on my Radions for that reason.
I wanted the Meridians but did not want to wait. These should last me years and I have power to spair when the tank grows in.

Day 57 4 weeks +.
Added 2 female swallow tail Angelfish.
Total of 7 fish now. I want one more a Tomini tang and that will be all for awhile.
Not the best pic but I just put them in. I will get better pics in a few days.

10 weeks and a few at Day 74.
Not much going on in the 170.
Stable at 7.5 alk and all corals are growing.
I bumped all channels 5% so now at
Red 35
White 45
The rest 65
I will get some par numbers later.

Current coral count is 18 sps and 4 lps so 22 so far.

I received 35lbs of GLR for the ext 50 on Thursday so the system is up and cycling. I may start a build thread for it in a few days.

Tunze 9430 dc and Geo 818.

Happy 4th!
Day 79-11 weeks.
Cleaned and calibrated ph, and sg.
Sg was reading low.
All probes were dirty.
Now reading same as TM hydrometer.

Cleaned orp probe also as unit said 470.
After it read 380.

With the nylon socks alot of debris is passed through the sump and settles.

Probes will get cleaned once a month now.

Fish are being fed 3-4 times a day.
I take 5 different frozen cubes and mix then and pour them back into the plastic.
These cubes feed the fish and the whole system.
I also feed several fauna marin types of pellets once a day.

Seeing coraline spots on the back wall and more on the powerheads.

Alk is running 7.6.

Picked up a maricultered coral with interesting thick growth patterns and is the coral on the right.
The coral to the left is a nice mini colony of GB full Spectrum.
