Fake Elos tanks

Does anyone know how long this has been going on? The first sentence of the Elos facebook post mentions 6 months. So if this this facebook warning was posted August 20 and the Dallas store had the grand opening of May 2'nd it appears this is an Elos USA distributor problem. With other stores also being infected it seems. Going on well before The Dallas May 2'nd grand opening. But I may be reading the timeline all wrong. Facebook post in August, 6 months of defective calls coming in prior to this date.

I dug a little deeper. It seems, it MIGHT have been a Coral Vue issue, but that's as far as I got. I do not want to pry for more information from Elos NJ yet. I got concerned because I bought an Elos tank 24 months ago, but wasn't sure how long it went back. Mine was purchased from Elos NJ, but Coral Vue was the distributor. It seems the fakes do not have the Elos "swoosh" and some of the overflows are completely different.

Though the op did say 'friend', he also clearly stated that the 'friend' was the owner of Elos in NJ, a source that should be given a little more credence when dealing with Elos issues, and while not necessarily enough evidence for a court of law, was moe than enough evidence for a 'heads up".

I disagree. It would give more credence if the shopowner had posted with his experience much rather than a friend of a friend of a friend posting the owner's experience for him/her. I'm not familiar with what's going on with Elos and their tanks. So when someone comes on and says, "oh hey this happened to a buddy of mine and I have no evidence except his story and I'm not going to provide evidence to my story to lend me credence"...I'm simply going to call it out for face value. OP was asked to provide a tangible source as to what was occurring. There is nothing wrong with that.

It's like the old fishing stories. I caught a fish that weighed 100 lbs the other day. Do you have photos? No. But it must've been a 100 lbs.

Some people would like to see or read concrete sources. Especially when claims are made. I'm one of those people. Take it for what it's worth. Have a great day!

You did not mention if your Elos tank, bought 24 months ago, from Coral Vue the distributor was one of the fake Tanks? Thanks.

There is plenty I've heard about the situation. It's appalling to me that someone would try to pass off counterfeit Elos tanks that apparently are defective.

While I do not know for certain the primary shyster who hatched this awful ruse, I will say it's interesting that Elos (Italy) has dropped Coralvue as the US distributer of their standard tanks.

Yes they have. Not sure if they were involved or not, but I guess we might find out soon.

Elos tanks are on the CoralVue sight and when I sent coralvue a note recently, I was told the new Diamond Line would be available in the Spring.

^^^Acquasole is NOT Elos.

Although it does appear that Coralvue is distributing the new Diamond Line from Elos.
