Its been quite a while since I've had a dendro so......

I got two different dendro at macna A fat head and a yellow dendro.
Acclimated dip etc etc. did the what I thought was the usual nps. Thing Good med flow. Waited patiently let froz food juice flow over it so it smells dinner. Day or two the yellow responds but nothing on the fat head it won't open up.
No tissue loss yet. Not sunken but don't see lips.
Hints tips or anything I forgot?

Do they like classical music Or speak Esperanza?

Fwiw I have had a tiny chili coral for the last six months or more and it has grown pretty well considering species. A large (8 ten in ) chili coral too doing well. And was even gifted a sick starved but large colony of black sun coral three days ago I got to open up and eat.

Thank you. :D

I use phyto feast to get them to open. I feed mine 2-3 times a week by using a plastic 2 liter bottle cut in half. Cover the coral, remove the lid and use a pipette to shoot phyto feast inside and put lid back on. Once they open I feed any meaty foods chopped fine. Try to give some to each head. Leave covered for 20-30 minutes and remove.

Might be happier throughout the day if you put it under some shade. Mine didn't start thriving until I did this

Mine rarely open during day. But at night or lights down are wide open. I usually take advantage of that moment to feed em mysis or frenzy when I see them at least twice a week.

They like flow, mine are in a higher flow and are always open.

Thanks. I'm slowly moving it closer to higher flow spots.
My very first dendro was pretty picky at first but I don't remember for how long.
My other one opened up the end of the second day.

Geez.

I bought 2 heads back in about February/March and put them low in the tank and gave them medium flow. I also positioned them so that they are in the same current that my food flows in when I feed the tank....helps ensure they get food daily without spot feeding. Within a couple of months I started seeing a new head grow and now I have 11 new heads coming off of the main 2.

@saltyfilmfolks whatever happened with your dendro? I got a fathead today it's being a goof...opens up partway for a few minutes then closes back up. I can clearly see the mouth though, so I think all is well it's just being a PITA. It's out of the light under a ledge, moderate-ish flow. I'm worried maybe too much flow, although the dendro in the pic above seems happy in quite a lot of movement.

How's yours?

They are beautiful pictures! Thank you for the info. I'll be patient and not move it.

It's a single head with 2 tiny babies on either side. Right now the babies are both fully extended and mama is almost completely closed. Wierdo coral.

Lol right?

I left it on the bottom just because for a while and then tried different spots for flow.

I hope your tuns out to much less grumpy.

When I got home from work today it was still grumpy and closed up, so I gave it aa shot of reef roids followed by a squirt of mysis. It seems a little cheerier.

We will see what happens now.
