FatMike's Sexy Red Haddoni Carpet

I just got my Red Haddoni Carpet from Mike at Sexy corals! so I wanted to start a thread about how its doing!

my clowns have never had a nem in the tank so they have never hosted before. hopefully they will figure it out one of these days

Oh and by the way it is an optical illusion about how close it is to those zoas. It is really on its own with at least a 6 inch diameter away from any coral in the tank!

Whoa, that is tiny! VERY nice color on it, Mike, sweet pickup!! I loved my carpet nem when i had one long ago.

Looks like a healthy little guy too. Should grow into a monster in no time and the clowns are going to look awesome in there...

Ha yes I was! I went back and forth for awhile whether I was going to buy it or not but then after I talked to Mike I just couldnt pass it up! the size is just to perfect!

How big is the anemone?

There have been a lot of red S. tapetums flooding the market and being passed off as S. haddoni.

How deep is your sandbed? S. haddonis are sandbed dwelling anemones, and something is off if it is on the rocks.

Highly doubtful that is S. haddoni (I've never seen one that small in all my years in the hobby) and is quite likely to be one of the fairly common red "maxi mini" carpets (have seen several identical to yours) that have been hitting the market in recent years. The red ones seem a little different from typical S. tapetum and tend to stay smaller. Hopefully you didn't pay haddoni prices...

I literally just put it in the tank today so it is settling in and thats where it landed and attached right when it got in the tank so before saying something is wrong lets give it some time. I have plenty of sand if that is where it would like to go. It is 4.5"-5"

thats fine if you believe that it is not a Haddoni but I also have been in the hobby for many years and know what the red maxi minis look like (they have some type of green center). I trust Mike very much and know he would not do something like that.

So thank you for the input I know you are just looking out

But ya I know its not a maxi because it came from Sexycorals. When you want something you have never seen and is super rare go to Mike at Sexycorals

Alright... good luck and I hope that I'm wrong. It should increase dramatically in size in a matter of a couple months if it's S. haddoni, they usually grow VERY fast when they're small, which I suspect is why you only very rarely see small ones available. Even when smaller ones are available they're usually much bigger than yours.

Maybe its a new species of maxi that mated with a hadonni but not just any haddoni but a dwarf hadonni.

Dwarf S. haddoni? That is rich. IMO/E the one in post 14 is not an S. haddoni. Been keeping them for 16+ years, and feel that that one is an S. tapetum. There have been several threads on this subject, and none of these has been S. haddoni. Bigger shame claiming that an S. tapetum and S haddoni mated.

Guys we are kidding. We know the picture in post 14 is not a haddoni. It is a mini maxi see the green in the center. We know that.

And mike is being sarcastic of course they didn't mate together. The picture in post 11 is a haddoni. The picture in 14 is a maxi. See the difference. If you don't then fine you can think whatever you would like.
