Favorite equipment that cost under $100

Milwaukee digital refractometer hands down.

My favorite aquarium equipment isn't even designed for aquariums. I was having all sorts of connectivity issues with my Apex (frustrating since I travel), then I bought a $30 wireless extender that I plug my Apex into directly. This has solved so many issues for me, and made my tank experience far more enjoyable.

I got my second plum xl3 infusion pump for $100. Listed on eBay for $149 and I threw a $100 bid at them. That was shipped also. Cheapest way to dose 3 liquids.

Flipper magnet cleaner and Milwaukee digital refractometer are both excellent pieces of equipment under $100

Lots say flipper. Which one? Is it so far superior to the mag float I should order one? The mag float has caused some scratchs on my RSM130 from guest cleaning away, it's really peed me off.

I've learned not to leave them in the tank for a long time that way growth doesn't build up in the scrubber side and it keeps it clean with no sand to stick and no others to play with the magnet

I've owned both the flipper and the tunze. The Tunze is built in a way that does not allow sand to get trapped because the inner magnet doesn't touch the glass/acrylic. The tunze has also been MUCH better at removing harder types of algae. It's a no brainer for me, especially if you have acrylic.

I like them so much i bought 2. So much better than the magfloat. Doesn't scratch the glass and does a much better job cleaning tough algae. I use just the regular flipper (the $40 one) on my 200 gallon deep dimension and my 40 breeder. Works well on both, no issues. I mostly just use the scraper blade side because it works so well.
