Waited all morning on FedX. Didn't arrive until after 1pm. 3hrs late....

I had to go somewhere for 1.5 hrs at 2pm

I SPECIFICALLY left a note on my front door (with the front door opened halfway mind you) on a BIG 8.5x11 sheet of paper that you could read from the freaking street:

FEDX
LEAVE PACKAGE INSIDE DOOR
THEN CLOSE DOOR

sidenote: super quiet neighborhood where leaving my door cracked open halfway for 2hrs midday, no big deal at all crimewise

Sooooo.
What did they do? They showed up 10mins after I left and put package clearly marked PERISHABLE outside on my steps in 42° weather for 1.5 hrs

Above pic shows the internal temp around 63-64° water temp

Luckily just about everything was Acans so everything SEEMS to be okay floating in bags.

I hate FedX

Same thing happened to me last week. Order frags from Florida to NY ( next day delivery ) not sure why it ended up in Indiana for a day. Frags came in a day late, 8 pm late.
Everything survived.

Will not be ordering during holiday rush again. I'll wait for July 4 / memorial day / Arbor day / sale ... etc ..

They don't even care anymore. I bet if we all had those security boxes for stuff to be left in they would still drop it (literally) at the door.

I doubt they are allowed to open front doors, note or not.
It's possible that is policy with some couriers but I've seen a lot of videos posted showing porch pirates entering people's enclosed porches to steal packages so clearly some couriers do as requested and open doors.

YET! they walk into my FREAKING GARAGE all the time.

Multiple times when I've been home, and garage door open, not a single knock on the front door but my package sitting halfway into my garage on the floor

Clearly deep enough to walk back out with a piece of $300 yard equipment

I'd have to agree with this. A huge company like Fedex could easily find themselves on the wrong end of many lawsuits if this was standard practice.

Glad everything is okay Zoa :)
If the evidence exists that permission was granted, I'm not sure what that lawsuit would look like. Perhaps if there was disagreement between the parties claiming that permission was not granted then yes there could be a case. However, if a note by the owner specifically granted permission to enter, then I would assume the lawsuit gets shot down as frivolous. I can imagine, "May it please the court. Your Honor I am here today seeking damages against FedEx for trespass. I gave them permission in writing to enter my home but after they left, I changed my mind. That is why I am here suing them." I don't think this flies.

I do see your point there, thinking more from a liability standpoint such as the home owner reporting something missing/damaged after the fact, not so much suing for changing their mind.

Ah I see. Ya that would be super tricky for sure. I definitely see that happening.

I don't even use vendors who use Fed ex for overnights. Not that they are bad vendors. I've had the same $@&t happen with Fed ex. UPS has never been more than an hour late. A couple of months ago I had a fish order show up at 10:30 PM! Something to keep in mind Fed Ex route drivers are not Fed ex employees. They are contracted through another company. Just like Amazon Prime. Amazon used to be great until they started subcontracting drivers.

UPS, FedEx, USPS have all left packages in front of my garage door. Not often but they’ve done it. I almost ran over one. Who the hell leaves a package in front of a closed garage door?

Everyone understands delays can happen. What I find upsetting is that there isn't even an effort by the courier to contact the recipient to see what should be done when the package will be late. I don't expect this for regular packages but livestock is a whole different ballgame. I also bet that somewhere in the terms and conditions that Fedex is absolved of any responsibility if owner grants access. I'm sure they have a cya for almost everything.
