1. I don't have an anemone for a host.

2. I have 2 different types of clowns...I don't see why they would...mate?

3. The small clown is black and orange and white and he's always swimming in front of the bigger orange and white one flipping his back tale like...IMO sperming eggs.. But theirs no eggs...then the bigger orange and white clown gets all angry and starts beating up my frog spawn and gsp. Should I invest in a BTA ??? Maybe they need a spawn ground....and can 2 diff species of clown even mate?

This pic is where the little black one was shaking his tail all crazy..then the orange one came up and started acting strange :/

They love to do ritual dances as u explained to mate but it depends they will lay their eggs in live rock most likely

The bigger one is mean...is that normal?

Should I get a nem...to make them happy?

A nem would definitely help them bond and the bigger one is always more dominant and is the female

Okay I've been promised a nem since I keep ranting and raving about the clowns

Hold on...

Anemones are fairly demanding, so I'd not just run to get an anemone for the sake of your clowns. Your corals can easily adjust to the clowns hosting in them and, while really cool, your clowns will be fine without one. Give it some thought before you proceed...

Yeah, in the wild they naturally host riterri nems but in captivity they sometimes adapt and host a BTA. Its a 50/50 chance.

I agree, wait a few months before getting an anemone.

How old is your tank? BTAs can be great and fairly hardy, but you need to have a somewhat mature tank. 9 months+ (a year?) with good husbandry. Stable and measuring for that. good flow and light.

I don't think that will matter much for the clown behavior. They will try to host with corals, power heads, the overflow. The female is larger and in charge, the male is smaller and will lie on his side and twitch like he is convulsing. Quite normal. sometimes they go mouth to mouth and push. normal. Tearing fins or biting, not normal.

Not all clowns will go to the nem. Mine did and is fun to watch. But getting a nem in a new tank isn't the best thing for it. Wait longer if that is the case.

My tank is currently 3 years old. It's well established. And have perameters on point. I've had a huge carpet anemone..ended up getting sooooo big we had to split it...it now has 4 huge babies that have been donated to a dentist office we maintain tanks at.
I'm looking for a maroon colored BTA...as long as they aren't as hard to take care of as a carpet nem then I'm intrigued :)
