Filter floss stealing my spare coral cash

Couldn't tell in the picture if you can use the loose stuff or if it has to be sheets, but Walmart has the 5lb box now for $8.68.

I bought a 150' roll from Aquatic Eco-Systems over a decade ago, and still have around 30% left. But I use a 6"x6" square every few days.
I was unable to find a similar item on their horribly useless web site. (Do they really need six different tracking sites for every page???)

Your pad size is huge. Could you block off half of your flow, and use 1/2 size pads?

Your pad size is huge.

Good point....and made me think that it's made for a higher-density pad like he ones Coralife sells. Awesome – and re-usable....almost forever.

Look for the "original", 50µm or 100µm version

Here's the sizes they have now...and links to the actual product pic:

The two at the top are the ones I used and would recommend for a large compartment. High-filtration. Very durable. The big one (2' x 3') we'd customize to the exact size we needed.

You don't need the sheets you can just stuff the poly-fil in there and don't have to fill the whole thing just stuff enough the water has to pass through it.

I personally like the poly-fil ( been using for 15+ years ) better than the morning glory stuff ( got some once, polyfill seems more dense ). Quite comical when you open it becuase it expands out so much can never get it back in the box.

You could get a filter sock holder and potentially run those to some effect if the floss gets to be too much? do you have a picture of the area where the floss would go?
I have these in my sump and they work great. Probably your best option. I have 10 socks, change them every 3 days and when I start running low, I chuck them in the wash inside out with a tiny bit of bleach and voila.

I understand the frustration about being a Canadian reefer. All the cool corals and fish are long snatched up before they get here and we simply don't get the same deals on our equipment!
