filter sock

I purchased enough to cover 8 weeks. I put them on broom handle and spray with a hose after they clog. Then wash all of them in washer machine on delicate. Use 2 caps of bleach and extra rince. I soak them in rodi with a little product called safe. I do not invert them. They clean nicely.

yes . I have had my socks for 2 years and still usable after several times in washer. You can use Clorox with hot water in washer .just to make sure I soak them in a dechlorinator in sink after washer .

Yes- throw them in machine with no chemicals- just warm water and gentle spin- Ready to go after wash. I have two sets to rotate them out so a fresh set is ready to go

I keep a bucket under my utility sink with some pool chlorine in it. I just set my old ones in that to wash day. On wash day I just toss them in the washing machine. Then hang then to dry. Before I put them in the sump I rinse them in cold water.

I know one of my friends that owns a reef shop uses hydrogen peroxide to clean socks
He said it’s a little messy but works great .
I’m still sticking to putting socks in washer

While we are talking about filter socks, I noticed that the size used for my Waterbox 60.2 Marine is 2.75" x 10". It appears 2.75" is a unique size and I could only find it on Waterbox's website. Anyone know where I might find this size? I checked at Marine Depot, BRS, and Saltwater Aq.

I use the garden hose with a high pressure nozzle. Turn inside out and repeat. I then put it in a 2 gallon bucket with 1 gallon water and a couple capfulls of 34% H202. Let it soak overnight and nice and white.
Air dry done!
I do 2 at a time once a week as I have 2 tanks.
I use them for 2 years and replace. Could go longer but I have many.

Waterbox is the only place you'll be able to find them.

I got rid of mine and went with filter floss holders from inTank. Link to the post in my build thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/w...2-build-by-ingchr1.533076/page-4#post-6336751

@S.Pepper just realized the 60.2 is not an AIO, so the floss holders probably won't work for you.

In the Waterbox Facebook group there was a person talking about making 3D printed filter cups. Octo Aquatics also asked if there was any demand for filter cups for the Waterbox 2.75". Maybe reach out to Octo about making cups, if you want to get rid of the socks.

Yes, I noticed that and was planning on replying earlier but got busy reading your build thread. lol

P.S. I'm not sure if i want to get rid of my filter socks at this point. I don't take delivery of my tank until this Friday.
