filter sock

I have 2 sets of socks. Been using them for 2 years+. I turn them inside-out and my washer has a sanitize mode (really hot for an hour). No chems. I put rubber dog toys in to agitate debris

That's the plan at this point is to have several pairs and rotate them. thx.

I have no idea what brand socks I have but they are surprisingly durably unlike floss. They still seem to catch anything visible to the naked eye. I've experienced that my skimmer does a good enough job that I have no worries at this point.

Maybe think of it this way. It's fine to re-use socks as long as your maintenance schedule keeps params in check including the other major export method that is the skimmer.

I use a hose nossel set on stream. 60psi. And it works very well. My socks are 220 micron felt. 4 inch red sea. I have 18 socks, 9 pairs that last about 2 months. Then wash them....

I don't want to spam a thread. I am usually a lurker. So many things are considered disposable these days that don't have to be. Filter socks imo are one. There are many threads on r2r about how to increase nitrates and phospates for corals. Some ppl remove the socks or turn off the skimmer. You may not even need them. If you only keep fish then I would say keep your socks clean.

I use a 5G bucket and this to clean socks when I use them.
