Filter socks

I don't think I'm going to risk either.
I used to think the same way until I read some threads on here of people dosing bleach directly to their tanks to treat Dino's. Figured if I had any tiny risidual left from the wash, wouldn't be a complete killer. Started washing them & air dry & have had no issues and I use 2 socks on a 20g tank. I run 2 rinse cycles 1st, put the socks in on Hot & just dump some bleach in. It's usually more than a capful for sure, more like 1/4 cup probably! Then run 2 rinse cycles after & air dry. Take a good smell when dry to make sure I smell no bleach and good to use. No issues and socks get nice and clean!

One of the main points on the extensive study that I read was that bleach had NO tangible benefit at all, except making your socks white again. So, if it pleases you to see white socks, bleach away! The organic residue is still there.

I wash mine inside out with a good splash of bleach. Then put them outside in the sun to dissipate and leftover chlorine. No issues I think !
