Filterless skimmerless 10g

AMEE,
If your tank is not an aio with a surface skim outlet you will accumulate skum on the surface of your tank water. I had to take my sump offline for a couple of months and my surface water was no longer being skimmed into my overflow. This is what I used to pull gunk off the top and bring it under. This lets proper gas exchange on the surface, something you need since you don't have a skimmer. The only problem is the scum is not removed it is just turned under:

Sand is finally close to being white again. Tank is doing good do not know if I want to add another aquaclear hob to put a surface skimmer box and run some media once in a while. Right now hobbis turning water about once a month I put the regular aqueon filter floss to clear up the water. Went back to using the smart wave with the powerheads switching everything 30secs.

Thank you will consider this if I don't add any filtration with surface skimming.

Beautiful. Makes me want to start the 10 back up....2gal water changes is nice. Nice lighting too

Thanks guys. I couldn't hold off buying an anemone any longer so I pulled the trigger on this small bubble tip. It has stayed put where I placed it for a day [emoji16]

Clowns haven't shown any interest. They are still going to bed in a corner and dig a hole no matter how many times I cover it up.

Have you tried taping pictures of clownfish in anemones around your tank? I did this for two separate fish and anemones and both times within 24 hours the clownfish took to the anemone.

haha. reminds me of when the chinese tried making pandas watch panda **** to encourage them to breed!

nice tank! is that an acan echinata i see on the rock (lower left) next to an acan lord? careful with that. this is what acan echinatas can do at night when you are not watching: https://www.reef2reef.com/attachments/acanechinata-jpg.249538/

i'd say leave at least a 4+ inches gap.
I had an acan do that once very small frag, I ended up just dumping it. I will try to return those two soon. Barely grow and il not really feeling them. Never a good spot to place them.

Worth a try! I'm not too worried yet as the anemone is still very small(clowns are under an inch also) and don't want them to spook the nem to a weird spot.
