I am on day 2 of Cupramine (therapeutic level of .5). My hippo tang developed fin rot last night. I do not have anything for fin rot. What do I need(probably only have a petsmart or petco available for a right now solution) and how do I go about it. Stop copper treatment, or would primafix, or melafix slow down the infection while dosing copper long enough to get "real" anti-biotics. I now feel un-prepared. First QT Tank.[emoji20]

Also, don't get discouraged. Treating fish is really hard, and sometimes you do all of the right things but it does not work out. I cannot guarantee what will happen, but I can tell you that you will be getting some of the best advice the internet has to offer with these people

First, are you treating with copper for a reason? Have you done a FW dip to check for flukes? Flukes can cause a secondary infection. You can run antibiotics with copper but they will react slower as copper suppresses a fishes immune system.
Are there any other symptoms like flashing, head shake, spots, etc?

I saved him from an awful place so I am treating for ICH. But, I am only on day 2 of copper. He looks good (better) first pic was when I got him. But now his tail is getting pretty bad. See 2nd pic. Don't mind the photo bombing chromis.

Yes, that looks pretty bad. I would recommend NFG Nitrofuracin Green which would have to be ordered. In this case if you can only get to a petco I would get the Melafix so you can get something going temporarily. You will probably need a more broad spectrum treatment like NFG or the Trifecta.
I would still get on Amazon and get a supply of Metroplex, Kanaplex, Furan 2 which is known as the trifecta.

When running antibiotics with copper make sure you aerate the tank heavily with an air stone and or a powerhead breaking the surface of the water.

Already on Amazon [emoji3]. Is there anything else you would recommend? My plan was a 30 day copper regimen. Then a 14 day (2 cycles) of Prazipro. Then 14 days of quarantine for monitoring.

I the future I would recommend Copper Power, Prazi gets dosed twice 5-7 days apart, also recommend General Cure and Focus to mix with food for internal parasites.
I would also strongly recommend the Hanna high range copper tester and two extra boxes of reagents. This makes keeping copper levels steady easy.

Melafix won’t help fin rot, is the fin rot shown here in the photos you posted? That looks more like bullying or flukes. Have you done a freshwater dip in a dark bucket to see if flukes (sesame seed looking things) drop off?

I’d avoid melafix and I wouldn’t use NFG and copper except in absolute emergencies.

That is very bad ich good job on saving it! :)

Yes. I have the Hanna tester. They are the only testers I use. I did a freshwater dip initially and nothing came off. I really don't think this is bullying. He is in QT with 2 small chromis. Thats it. I have several hours in on watching these three, and not once have I seen agression. By the looks of his tail I am worried this an emergency situation. So I am hoping melafix will slow it down enough to get through the copper regimen. Then I can get the proper ABX's dosed.

@4FordFamily is right on not dosing NFG with copper and I should have specified that.
