first fish & planning a fish list for 120G

Got the borbonius!! he came in on friday, and is in QT. was a bit inactive/chilling in corner first day, but expected. yesterday/today, eating well and much more active/exploring.

Now to plan for the next fish!

Everything looks fine but be careful of having two different clowns together, they will probably fight. Also, the tank seems very stocked, do not get any other fish besides these until some of them die. The fish would do great together though,

huh? different clowns can easily be paired up and is quite common. Thats kinda how all the "designer" clowns get made.

Tank is actually unstocked at the moment, just CUC. Thats why this is a fishlist and planning thread, to get all the ideas worked out and come up with the "dream" list.

Im hoping no fish die, for quite some time.

We have several saltwater stores and a local club with good people . I'd say the scene is good, but I don't have much to compare it to, since I started my reef tank after moving out here. If you find your way up sometime, I can recommend some places to check out.

Dude if you are looking for 4-6 wrasses what not a flame super male and 3 ladies to keep him on his toes?

Also a dragon wrasse would be cool to watch if you got a juvenile.

possible. but would really like more variety. rhomboids, flame, lineatus, a few more.

altho, the idea of a rhomboid harem might work, thanks for the suggestion.

Fwiw , if it were me I'd try to limit aggression or stress issues. Picking a favorite would be impossible but a harem would be your best bet. Be it flames or rhomboid ect. My .02.

Actually, I disagree as far as aggression is concerned. Although haremic in nature, in aquaria most flasher and fairy wrasse females will transition into males even with another male present. This, in many cases, leads to the demise of one of the males.

While there may be a degree of aggression towards males of a different species, it is nowhere near as bad as aggression within the same species. With multiple species it usually works itself out relatively quickly and painlessly, especially if a social acclimation box is utilized. Granted, there are some species that are exceptions, but there are a few on the forums that can provide insight.

With about a 95% chance all 3 females end up males as well, and then things tend not to go so well...

Neat as a juvi, ugly and destructive as an adult.
A species that does not belong in a reef tank.

Like a tank full.
But I don't bother with more than one specimen of any given species when it comes to fairys/flashers.

Yes, but you don't have to buy males. Juvi's or females is fine.

thanks again. I didnt think too much of an issue having mixed males(rhomboid, flame, lineatus, tamarin, etc), but wasnt sure about adding a pair into the mix. good to know.

While the majority of juvies/females will transition into males, only the dominant males in the hierarchy will reach terminal male phase. However, terminal males are more expensive and don't ship as well as females.

borb made the cut and was the first fish!!

making decisions on the second fish now.

picked up a couple new wrasse today, male flame and male labouti. just got them into QT and letting them settle in a bit before I offer some food. They look pretty great.
the flame looks quite nice and has some great coloration. labout is HUGE and has some stellar color as well, but came in with a bit of damage to the caudal fin. shouldnt be an issue, but a bit disappointing.

They came in a huge box/styro cooler, in quite a bit of water. I didnt measure, but seemed like almost a gallon in each bag! quite impressed with the packaging and delivery. Just gotta get em through QT and into the DT. should just be a month or so..

hers a quick pic of the new guys! still in QT at the moment, but wont be long before they are headed for the DT, thatll be a happy day!! Eating like pigs! the labouti is a serious eater, the flame a bit more picky, but both doing well and getting settled in....
