Hey guys, just a quick question. I just bought a “healthy” anemone and it rolled off a rock today. I just also bought it today but I was wandering whether to let it do it’s thing or just intervene..?

LTAs like to bury their column in the substrate. They require about 3 inches of substrate, make a well and place the column into it. Leave the flow off for a while and it will dig it's foot in.
That's what I ended up having to do as well. Once they're settled they don't really move. Mine hasn't in years. It looked rough as well.

Sorry I didn’t respond, was rather eager to dig in the nem. I’ll give it some time but thanks for the help guys. Much appreciated:)

I've had an LTA for over a month now, it's moved about 4 times. So don't be surprised when it bails out of the place you made for it. Just cover/turn off wave makers and let it figure itself out.

It has managed to scramble out so I think I’ll just leave it to do it’s thing

Does anyone know whether it’s foot is damaged... the nem seems to enjoy its spot but doesn’t attempt to bury

You have to dig a hole for it so it can attach the bottom of the glass or under a rock
Btw that LTA is very bleached and not healthy

What is your substrate? The most recent pic still looks like its sitting on a rock, not sand.

Thanks for all the help guys! I’ve added a glass cup and dug it into the sand in attempt to replicate the nem reaching the bottom glass. My substrate is so thick that the nem couldn’t touch the floor but it looks happy nevertheless. Hoping my clowns will get to be hosted but not too sure. My smaller ocellaris has checked it out but not gone in, does anyone know the proportion of clowns that successfully host with LTA..?

you only need to dig a small hole btw, also anemones can dig on their own. idk wild host but its usually up to the specific clownfish. If its checked it out and bit any tentacles it should be soon

I fed near my lta but for now I wouldn't do that as the clowns trying to host it could prolong his stress and even make it worse. Clowns can be very "agressive" hosters

The male stared at it a couple times but hasn’t gotten too close, I think their spot is under the flow which may cause issues as they may not want to move.
