First Time Tank Setup! 60 Gal Tank + 29 Gal Sump

I picked up a 60 gal tank with internal overflow, a 25 gal sump and cabinet/canopy combo off craigslist. I got all the parts nice and cleaned up. I'll post progression shots of the tank setup, as well as questions I might have during the process...

Here is the tank and sump I'll be working with.

Would you suggest making a new glass sump from the petco 40 gal breeder size? I have the all the tools to be able to build it. Just would need to buy the Petco tank and some glass baffle pieces from Home Depot.

What are the dimensions of the tank? A 40b would make a great sump, but it is a lot bigger then you need on a 60. Nothing wrong with that, I just like to leave some room under the stand for other equipment like ATO reservoir and dosing containers.

The pump is going to be a submersible Vectra M2. I'm working on a parts list of the things I'm planning on purchasing for the tank. I'll post the spec sheet soon. Would love to get people's opinions of the part list for my specific tank.

I would go with a 20 long for the sump. The 40b is 36"x16"x18" and is actually a bid deeper than the 60. A 20L properly set up will work perfectly, if you can find one, a 29L would work great as well, but they are difficult to find.

I think I'll end up getting the 29 gal petco tank with their sale going on right now. Now just trying to find where to get 1/4 in thick glass to build the interior walls of the sump.

Picked up a 29 gal sump from Petco. Also, got the sump baffles cut at a local glass shop. Silicone is currently curing on the sump walls/baffles. Fun little DIY project over the weekend.

Drew up a quick/simple plumbling plan. I'm a first timer with all of this stuff. If anyone has any tips to improve my plumbing setup, please let me know!

1 1/4" is a phat return pipe size. I think dialing it back to 3/4 or 1" would be good.

Is there space for more than one drain? Two drain lines are good three drain lines are best. I have a 3/4 return pipe paired with a jebao 6000 DC pump and I have to turn it now to like 65% to avoid it moving sand in the front of the tank. The jebao is dead silent as well

I changed it to 1" return line and since the tank is an all in one design it came with predrilled holes. It will have a single 1.5" drain pipe.

Ya, I put some plugs in the extra holes. There is also a return pipe on each side of the tank.

The tank is up and running. I started cycling the tank with Dr. Tim's One and Only on Saturday night (4/25/20).

However, my single drainpipe is currently very noisy. I tried to fit a Durso style drain pipe in my overflow, but I did not have enough space in my overflow box since the 1 1/2" pipe is so bulky.

Does anyone know any solutions to silencing the drain while staying with a single straight up drainpipe?
