Also I have 2 800GPH wavemakers. One is rippling the top of the water 24/7.

Rippling isn't breaking the water's surface - are the ripples making bubbles? If not, that could be an issue, especially with a glass top.

However, in the video, the HOB is adding pretty good aeration, and there isn't a lid there, so gas exchange is probably o.k. as long as you don't fill the tank so full that the bubbles stop.
