Fish battle

Did you ask here? Or lfs? I don't believe anyone on here would agree about qt'ing a new fish with an 8-line.
I asked lfs. Still really new and I feeling like every step forward I make I'm taking 3 steps back

Yes they were going to go into my 75 I'm setting up.

okay well time to take a step back and slow down your QT process. First having coral in there means you can’t really treat the fish if they get sick and if you move the coral to your display tank it can transfer the fish disease with it.

Second, you need to build a stock plan of the fish you want or a general idea and add them in a proper order.

The 8 line should probably go back as it should not go into the tank early on.

Only QT 2 maybe 3 fish at a time if they are small. Finish the QT period entirely before adding any more. Buy peaceful fish first.

Keep in mind Copperband as are fragile fish and is not for beginners. It should look healthy and not thin (no pinched head or stomach) and should be eating at the LFS. This fish should be fed LRS, fresh clam from the market and live worms for optimal health. Not flake or brine or mysis.

I'm sorry. I would lose trust in them forever.
A lot of people on here can really help you. Don't be shy to ask. Sure, some are snarky. Most aren't.
Starting a reef tank is like walking onto the battlefield. We need all the help we can get.

Understood he was brought in with everyone else except the flame. The tank has been my escape but it's starting to backfire.
All good!!! Live and learn! It’s the joy of reef keeping! Lol one day everything is perfect, next day everything is dead lol Stick with it, read read read, and ask advice here, not your LFS… majority are out for $$$, not education and care.

What sucks is I've ended up going out of state for fish. I'm in savannah, GA and only 1lfs worth anything. I've started going to Jacksonville and finding fish and even there most stores have either been rude or I'm not asking the right questions.

Ask questions here, that’s what the site is for… there are really great online options for fish (ie, DR Reefs quarantined fish, TSM, Oceans Garden) all great sellers with great livestock. Think of shipping as what you’d pay in gas going state to state to find lfs species that are probably covered in ich.

i know exactly how you feel. I never had a good lfs when it came to saltwater. had to do my own research and order online. Or, got lucky at petco with what I wanted. Sadly...

I’m in Houston, by a beach, and have tons of options when it comes to LFS… sadly, there may be only 3 that are worth visiting. I’ve found if I REALLY want something, I can request it through any of the named above vendors and they’ll let me know when they get it in. They may cost a little more, but at least I know they’re not going to die the next day, or bring something into my tank

I don't know where to go at this point
You're already here. if you want more fish,

Sound advise.
Don't ask the lfs for advice, just tell them what you would like to buy. If you don't want to order online.

Keep the clowns. Those are perfect fish.
Yeah they aren't going anywhere. If they don't take the eight line back. I'll do what needs to be done but I'm just trying to have something to help me relax

Fire gobies are a great addition, they come in several varieties. Purple , red, helfrichi. Once you can add to your 75, you can work on getting the other fish figured out.

Was the flame angel a bad idea?
