Fish building/man cave build!

Back peeled off the 525xl, anchors in the ceiling for the light rack. 30 gallon water change on the angel tank done (this will be a monday thing).

Today's agenda is plumb the water change station and fill it up and start dosing kalkwasser via my wifi doser to the 12 footer.

I also plan on cleaning the 525xl as much as I can and order the glass patch to cover the holes.

The next batch of power heads is out for deliver today. Be glad to have the last two in to get rid of a dead spot in the 12 foot tank.

Just got 100% done with the thread! The tanks are looking fantastic and I hope your hand is doing better! Wow!!

Thanks for reading! My hand is much better.

I got the 525 pretty clean and also ready for the patch. Hopefully, the glass place will have it ready today.

Here is a couple before and one after.

I will give it a final cleaning after the patch is in for at least 24 hours and I rinse then leak test for two days.

I am hoping to have sand, driftwood and water in it Sunday.

I am not going to rebuild the stand. Just gussy it up some to match the other one. Yes, it would be nice if the two tanks were even but, it's not worth the time, money and effort at this point as I am way behind as we all know.

Any body need the weir grates to a 525xl or a 625xxl? I have both.

OK (sucks in air like ace ventura) Yes, I kept the chairs, The rabbit fish was a huge scribbled, I started in 1973 with a 5 gallon neon tetra tank and got progressively more and more until I started breeding clownfish, halleri rays and bamboo cat sharks in the mid 90s. Then scaled back for a couple decades until I opened a 3200 square foot store 13 days before they shut me down for COVID. The store never recovered from the losses. Now, I have a 14 x 23 room that my wife bought as a present for me that is for my man cave and aquariums.... (Runs out of steam)
Slowly but surely I'm catching up on the thread. Most excited to see the "biggest nano tank" and the rays.

Rays may not happen. There will be a final decision after the 187 is in and the furniture in place.

I may keep two halleri in the 187 because they don't get too big. We shall see.

Thanks for following along.

In all honesty, after removing the overflow from two RSR tanks, if I bought a brand new RSR, I would cut out the overflow, plug it and drill for a fiji cube overflow. It would literally take less than an hour start to finish.

I believe they are an over-engineered, proprietary nightmare. Yes, I wish the US would go metric but, since we haven't, that is another point of contention with the plumbing on these.

They are beautiful tanks and, now that they have fixed the stands, they are nice as well. Sumps.... well.....

O.K. rant over. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Nearly 60, I grew up using both but when I was hand machining aerospace parts it was to x thousands of an inch, I went through the factory in under two years in skill cards and parts went on planes with my inspector's stamp lacquered on each piece, because I didn't have "indentures" for previous aerospace work I stayed the lowest paid manufacturing person on site, I found the worst job in manufacturing I could and every time they asked for help here and there I just turned my radio up. ;)

When you walk into the ER are you treated like Norm was at Cheers? I am guessing they know you well by now!

To be honest, it used to be that way. The people who "Adult adopted" me as their son were amazing people. Gwen managed the ER and made sure I got quick, special treatment. They both passed last year 3 weeks to the day apart. We miss them terribly but, the memories and love we got from them will last a lifetime.
Now, I try to go to different ERs so they don't catch wind of how many times I visit and have me committed. lol!

They commit you, I will break you out.

Water change station is done! This is shocking because, way back at the beginning of this, I built the rack as one of the first projects and it took me all this time to find a home for it and plumb it. :)

I have a mag 9.5 that will run it and a 150 watt titanium heater for the saltwater barrel.

Total system volume should be right at 340 gallons. I will do a 35 gallon water change a week. (bottom barrel)

Thanks to @Brew12 for the containers, this project only cost me about $80 including the rack parts from zyltech and the pump I traded for.

525 is patched and the hardscape is done.

just waiting until tomorrow night to fill it up for the leak test. Saturday evening I will drain, clean and put in substrate. Then fill it back up and schedule the lights. Hopefully discus will be here soon.

Went to my buddy’s house and got
The plywood and luan I had stored there to finish the 187 stand and get a good start on the makeover on the 525 stand

I got a ton of cleaning and organizing done today. Also got the top on the 187 stand and the yoga mat glued on.

I drilled holes in the end of the 525 stand for the canister hoses and wiring to pass through and 3d printed grommets to make the holes look cleaner.

Going to clean the 525 in the morning and get it filled up and ready for discus.

Filled the discus tank and went and got some java moss for it. I get the discus tomorrow.

I got all the luan on the 187 stand and cut the parts for the face frame for the discus tank but didn't have the right size pocket hole screws. I will get them tomorrow and get it assembled and ready for stain. I will stain it and the 187 stand at the same time and mount the face frame with blind pocket hole screws some time this week.

I am hoping to get ahold of my buddy that has the 187 this week so I can pick it up next week .

Then it's game on for the saltwater plumbing and switch over of the tub.

That's the view from my desk.

I have to figure out what I am going to do about this side of the stand. It's ugly because it was never meant to be seen :)
