Fish Died in qt. Now what?

Don't be too hard on yourself, I did the same thing, thinking I would help my fish stay nice and healthy by giving them plenty of food. They stopped eating, but I was lucky enough to be dealing with extremely hardy clownfish that only had flukes. Sorry for your loss.

Agree, I’ve made a plethora of mistakes. What’s important is that we learn from them.

I will never ever use copper again. I've been treat or quarantine new fish employed hypo salinity at 1.09-1.010 with Prazipro to deal with most parasites and deworm. If suspecting Velvet then Chloroquine phosphate for 30 days.
I also do freshwater dip with formalin and malachi green bath for 5 minutes before settling them down to hyposalinity tank.

I’ve had one horrible experience with copper that was related to the live rock absorbing and releasing it causing toxic fluctuations in the copper level. Once I started testing copper level, I’ve been issue free. Mostly . Had 1 fish die in copper but that fish wasn’t right from the beginning.

May I ask why you will never use copper again? I have cp but no formain or Apache green. I do have a ton of other meds though

I have had really bad luck with wrasse and copperband butterfly's.
Its seemed to happen after a large water change. Could a shift in ph cause death? Everything else I'm certain was right.

I know that copperbands tend to be difficult and I personally don’t feel I’m ready for that level of care (size of tank aside). I’ve also noticed that wrasses can be finicky and I’m reluctant to try another one. I’m going to focus on getting some of the hardier fish though qt before attempting another wrasse. But that’s just been my experience. No idea if either is more sensitive to ph fluctuations but my issues w the wrasses didn’t seem to centre around water changes. Who knows?
