Remove the fake corals as the cheap ones have been known to leach out chemicals, what was the salinity of the tank? Also, as others said never treat your DT with copper. Copper is tough to get out and will affect your inverts.

Lets get this guy some help! It is really difficult when someone needs help and can't figure out what is wrong! We have all had that happen to us.

Really?? I was thinking the corals may be an issue so I will remove them just to be safe.. I purchased the corals here: http://www.paraquatics.co.uk/accessories/decorations-ornaments-gravel/artificial-corals.html

Would like to hear more opinions on fake corals though, so come on lads, what do ye think??

Salinity is at 35ppt and I plan on lowering it over the next few weeks as it's a FOWLR tank.

Yeah exactly, copper only for the QT tank...

Thanks :) I think maybe removing the fake corals in the DT is a start.. the clownfish in the QT seem to be doing better today, moving about and both eating :)

Well... the 2 clownfish seem to be doing well in the QT. Spoke with the LFS about the purple dottyback and they agreed to give me credit so that's something at least :)

Removed all the fake corals from the DT and I'm now thinking of buying a protein skimmer, I don't have a sump and would ideally prefer something inside the tank, nothing too big, have been looking at the Eheim Skimmer but can't see a single review anywhere, does anyone know anything about it??

https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products/technology/skim-marine-300

if not, any suggestions on a good in tank protein skimmer??

I would get this skimmer- HOB skimmers work really well, and I have had personal expierence with this skimmer.

Looks too big, with the pump and everything inside the tank...

Was thinking something like:

https://www.tunze.com/BR/en/catalogue/katalog-ii.html?user_tunzeprod_pi1[predid]=-infoxunter003

or my first choice would be the Eheim:

https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products/technology/skim-marine-300

but like I said, can't find any reviews on it?

I'm leaning towards the in tank version as I would worry a little about the HOB Skimmers overflowing all over the floor which obviously wouldn't be good :(

Sorry to add another bit of conflicting advice. I do not think a skimmer is really necessary for a fish only tank of your size. Especially if you are going to end up with one of the smaller inefficient ones. I think a monthly water change would be just as good or better than a small HOB skimmer.

Bi monthly- monthly would allow too much ammonia build up

Were the spots all over the body or just the fins? if they were on the body it was a good chance it was Velvet and if it was on the fins it was a good chance it was Ich. If you don't want to have a QT tank the you need to use a dip for your fish before you put them in your tank. Than is what I so and I never have issue with anything in my tank. Safety stop is the best thing to use for this. If you have corals in your tank I have used I have used API super ich in my tank before and it did not hurt any of my corals. I used it for 2 back to back treatments in my tank with fish in it and not issue what so ever. I will give you a link to both of the products that I use and please dip your fish before you put them in and you should do great. And while using this dip you need to use a air pump and a air stone in the buckets with the fish so they have plenty of air. some of the meds in the dip will take some of the air out of the water.
