Had a couple of questions about next steps for my two clowns that are finishing their 30 day copper treatment. I don’t have a tank to put them in currently because main display took longer than expected. I do however have a coral QT tank that is cycling for past 3 weeks. I was thinking about putting them in there, I have 0 ppm ammonia but ~2ppm nitrite, I don’t know if that is safe?

I was using Cupramine at .50 level for the entire 30 days and today I did a 50% water change and added carbon and cuprisorb to the filter. Copper level is down to .19 currently.

Do you think I can add them to a tank with 2ppm nitrites? I don’t want to stress them any further. Also, I plan to treat them again with general cure in a couple of weeks to be safe, should I freshwater dip again before treatment?

Thanks all.

why not leave them in the current tank until the main is ready?
I could, but it will take a few more water changes to really deplete the copper in it. It’s at .19 now and I thought it might stress them since it’s been .50 for 30 days

I did 25 percent water changes 5 days in a row so all the water had been changed and it didnt stress them out.

Just soak their food in GC/Focus and feed while u r reducing copper levels.
Good point, I am going to try and get that. I’ve been feeding them flake food since I’ve had them because had a tough time feeding them Mysis

I really appreciate all the help, I’m having a hard time finding an article on how to soak foods like this, any pointers? Thanks all!

just soak it! haha it really is that simple. take a little bot, put flake in, let soak for a bit, take flake out, feed flake.

have you tried any other foods? a healthy diet does wonders for fish health.

Not yet, figured I stick with what is working for them ocean nutrition prime reef flakes

I'd just leave them in the same tank.

For adding GC to food. I use frozen food.

If you are using pellet or flake you will need to add garlic or selcon (something liquid) to soak the meds into the food.

It's 1 scoop of focus + 1 scoop GC per tablespoon of prepared food.

Awesome, thanks for the help!

If there is any copper left you can put polyfilter in the your HOB and it will take it out quickly.

Removing copper will not effect your bio filter

Is that more efficient than the cuprisorb?

I've used both, yes in my opinion.

Also, remove copper as quickly as possible, there's no need to do it slowly. You want to remove asap
