Fish missing

My brother had two gobies and they both gone missing is it possible a green frilly mushroom can eat a watchman goby?
No - quite unlikely. They like to hide - and sometimes come out rarely, and sometimes they hide etc - and you may not see them for weeks. Sometimes they die. Did your brother QT them? Any other fish in the tank?

I agree gobies love to hide, but they can also be jumpers. Unless you have a tight cover, if they don't show up my guess would be they are dried up on the floor (or eaten by a cat or dog).
Yeah tank has a lid he just thinks the frilly mushroom ate it which I think is impossible I agree with you

I think it's impossible. As others have said - they can jump out - and may not have been seen

If you have fish going missing then there is either a poltergeist in there or something else that is vanishing them. If the mushroom ate 3 fish it should have grown and split.

Bobbit worm? Otherwise, poltergeist?

Gobies are notorious jumpers and although great hiders often slip through openings of overflow and end up in overflow box and even sump. Also search a 5 foot perimeter of floor around tank to assure they did not jump out

My watchmen hid for 7 months. Thought he was dead. Saw him about a month ago for the first time. I get little peeks here and there of him but he just likes his burrow with his shrimp

try a cover
Lol my cousin hates covers and had a yellow wrasse jump a bazillion times. He always seemed to be around when it did and put it back but one day it jumped when he wasnt home and he lost it! And thats why all 3 of my tanks have covers!
